We are looking to build a small job-oriented website that would allow companies to connect with independent local professionals/contractors for contract work. On our website, businesses will find not only the local experts they need, but also the tools to manage everything from hiring to collaboration to making payments. Local freelancers will have an area to easily expand their business network, grow their service offerings whilst ensuring guaranteed payment. View this like an elance for local markets or a craigslist a la guru.com but smaller & with top-talent.

Essentially we need the following 2 page layouts.

1. Home Page Design

The Home page should be primarily targeted to contractors & freelancers with 'search for gigs' primarily present. This being said business people & managers should clearly be able to understand who is on the site and easily access the ability to 'post your project'

Visitors to the site should be teased (as opposed to drowned in information) by the ability to see top results & counts associated with: 'Find local talents', 'Find your next gig (perhaps through RSS tags?) and ability to 'sign in' quickly

Ideally a video of 'how it works' or some form of usability aid should be displayed (WITHOUT making the site too busy, if this becomes the case this can be moved to a subsequent page)

Typical links like sign-up, our company, etc (as in guru site should be displayed but definitely very low key (at bottom & or top of page) based on their importance

2.Style sheet for Subsequent pages

See attached wireframe for content (but not layout)

-Business Managers & recruiters that will be posting jobs

-Service Providers/Freelancers: includes a broad array of Software Engineers as well as Designers & Artists

- indeed.com: Like the big clear search call-to action

- zoho projects: like the slight web 2.0-like look & feel. We are interested in furthering this

- prostores.com: similar to zohoprojects however we are interested in furthering this

- trovit.com: similar to indeed, clear call to action

Since we are building something similar to these large incumbents & are expecting to build a site that is MUCH simpler while pulling out the key features of these guys:

- elance.com

- guru.com

As a note we do NOT like the designs of elance & guru. We are mentioning them as the key features from these sites will be similar on our site.

Design: The design should focus on clean, easy-to-navigate usability above all. The user should experience ease of flow and access to information first. The design template & colour scheme should play a support role rather then be upfront.

The design must be able to handle a lot of search data while looking simple and light. We are looking to display counts of search results (for projects & contractors) and search results (similar to Guru.com's website) however with a much cleaner, lighter and simple design.

Brand Colours. See attached logo for reference.

Tone and Typeface should be new looking with a clear web2.0 flare. It should be visually appealing to artists, developers & business managers alike (yes we realize this is a crazy mix). The pages should be clean, easy to navigate & give a sense of dynamism with tier-1 projects and top talent.
