Business Info

Business Name

AppHarbor

What do you do?

AppHarbor is a service that simplifies creating and running websites built on the .NET platform. Instead of copying binaries and template files, our users simply push their code to our platform using Git (a code revision system). We then build the code and host the website on our cloud-based platform (it runs on Amazon EC2 servers). If you are familiar with Heroku, were providing pretty much the same service for .NET developers instead of Ruby-on-Rails ones.

Do you have a desired website screen size?

Wed like to use a 1140px grid (we had http://cssgrid.net/ in mind) or flexible width

How many pages (maximum of 5) do you need designed?

5

Target Audience

What is your industry?

AppHarbor hosts .NET websites. AppHarbor can also be used for continuous integration.

Describe the target audience for your website design

Our users are .NET web-developers who dont want the hassle of hosting and deploying their websites themselves. They are generally (but not exclusively) independent developers or relatively small companies. They value clear, simple and un-fuzzy web-design.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design

Simplicity -- its cheap and easy to get started on AppHarbor

Technical excellence -- AppHarbor is fast, secure and always up

Were webdevelopers ourselves -- our website should reflect web design best practice

How is your company different from your competitors?

Were simpler, cheaper and faster than Microsofts Windows Azure. We provider greater convenience than DiscountASP.NET. Were different than Heroku in that we run Microsoft .NET sites, not Ruby-on-Rails ones.

Style and Concept

What colors do you want to see in your website design?

No particular preference.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?

No particular preference.

What adjectives should best describe your website design?

Simplicity, clarity and convenience.

Our service is called AppHarbor so punts on a naval-ship-harbour theme is great (but not required). Our motto might end up being something like Ship it!. Another motto might be Collaborate -> deploy -> scale.

What content must be included in the website design?

Page 1 is the frontpage of the non-logged-in, public part of the website. The page should feature the processes AppHarbor is about making simpler: Collaborate -> deploy -> scale. The front page should also have a large Sign Up button.

Page 2 is the pricing/plans page on the non-logged-in, public part of the website. It should have a feature/pricing table. There are some good examples here: http://uxmovement.com/design-articles/7-...
Keep in mind while designing the pricing table that our pricing structure is very similar to the one found at heroku.com/pricing (although a simpler UI is fine). Think products like Motorboat, Tugboat, Yacht, Catamaran, Container, Cruiseship, Icebreaker etc.

Pages 3 to 5 is from the logged-in part of the site.
3) a table of the users current websites (applications) or similar.
4) a form for example used for creating or editing a new site using various standard html form elements.
5) a page showing something like website details for a particular website created by the user

Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?

We need .psd files or similar that we can give to a html/css ninja.
