What do you do?
We conduct surveillance on registered sex offenders in order to give the community an added layer of security.
Do you have a desired website screen size?
Its impossible to design a website to look the same in every browser, platform, and screen resolution, so dont bother trying. Instead, use a fluid, tableless layout for your design, with percentage widths that expand and contract to fit a visitors browser setting. Consider design for 1024768 setting and ensure it contracts properly, or transforms gracefully, to other settings.
How many pages (maximum of 5) do you need designed?
5 (five): Homepage, About/Services, Legalities/Policies, Sex Offender Information, and Careers/Training
What is your industry?
Protection and deterrence through calculated surveillance (we are a new niche, new industry).
Describe the target audience for your website design
City governments, State Governments, large private organizations who have an interest in protecting the community (private schools, universities, religious organizations), and lastly, our primary audience is the family with young children...the mother and father of the most precious and innocent lifeforms on the planet: children.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design
In short: Professionalism, Expertise, and the Need for our existence. Professionalism: the colors, font, graphics, arrangement, etc. all should look vert mature and responsible...like a very anal parent or government leader would be ('fun and laughter' is not in their vocabulary, if you know what I mean). Expertise: we want our viewers to know how knowlegeable and capable we are of doing the job. They should know we have the experience enough to make this program a success. The Need: Children and women have been murdered and raped by repeat sex offenders. These people weren't mixed up in the wrong crowd. In fact, their problem is psychological and that cannot be fixed, only treated. The fact that registered sex offenders have been able to murder and rape shows that the government does not have the resources necessary to maintain a watchful eye. We want people to know that we can make up that difference.
How is your company different from your competitors?
We don't really have competitors. Our closest competitor would be private investigator firms. They also conduct surveillance. We, however, only conduct surveillance, and it is only on registered sex offenders.
Style and Concept
What website design styles do you like?
I would like to keep things simple and corporate. I don't want to jumble the screen in a bunch of words, links, or graphics. I do, however, want it to look sleek and visually pleasing. Organization is key.
What colors do you want to see in your website design?
Our logo is maroon, gray, and black (sometimes substitute maroon with royal blue). Whatever you do, make the logo fit with the other colors.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?
I'll leave it up to the designer, but nothing too flashy.
What adjectives should best describe your website design?
Organized, Sleek, Easy, Understandable, Strong, Empowering, Purposeful, Serious, and Professional
What content must be included in the website design?
Include the logo (I will upload it). Include our address and contact information. For right now, just make up what you want, and I will fill it in later. I DON'T WANT THE CREATIVES TO ENTER IN MUCH TEXT, I WILL DO THAT. Just be sure I have the ability to add text just about anywhere I want on the website. And, I would like to be able to change that text's font size, color, arangement, type, etc. Our motto is, "Making a difference, one neighborhood at a time."
Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?
The homepage will have a nice header to it with the logo, contact information, and motto. I plan on having a location on the page where I can write a brief description, mission, and purpose of the company. I'd also like a small area for inserting company news and updates. In addition, the homepage will consist of a large interactive US map. The idea will be to allow the user to click on the state, and another page will appear showing information about our business within that state. I realize this is coding and you don't do that, but design the website around those requirements please.
The About/Services page will be quite a bit of text simply explaining what we do and how we do it. The organized arrangement of this text is important.
The Sex Offender Information page will be text as well, but I will attack links to other websites, research statistics, sex offender registries, etc. Organization of this text is important as well. And, by organization, I mean location and the way in which the text appears on the screen. For example, instead of writing in straight paragraph form, perhaps the text is placed into columns, like in a newspaper. This applies for all pages.
Legalities/Policies page: Same, text and links. Organization and location is important.
Careers/Training page: Same, text and links and organization.
The background for these pages can be different or the same. I'll leave it up to you. Remember, though, that the homepage will have a large interactive US map. I'm not sure if you guys and gals put the map on now, and I make it interactive later??? If so, then that map will need to look professional and not 'cartoony' like many of the mulitcolored maps do. The background on the other pages can be left up to you, but remember that the reader must be able to clearly see the written text (I know you know that, but I think I should say it anyway). Ok, thank you, and I'm sure there will be more as the days go by. Thanks!
