What do you do?
Website designer and and provider of internet solutions:
1.) Quality Design
2.) Flash Animation
3.) Custom Software
4.) E-commerce
5.) Content Management Systems
6.) Effective Marketing Services
I know it's kind of ironic I'm posting this out for work when I'm a website designer myself. Honestly, I'm just too dang busy worrying about my clients' sites to work on my own! It's been the same way for years and I really need to update it.
Do you have a desired website screen size?
Resolution at 1024x768 to allow for more detail.
How many pages (maximum of 5) do you need designed?
5 Pages: Home, About Me, My Team/Contractors, Services, Portfolio
Target Audience
What is your industry?
Website Design & Development
Describe the target audience for your website design
Companies large and small, but especially those who are starting fresh with a new website... that's where my company name comes from, "Square One" - the idea of "starting at square one" in fact my web address is www.startatsquareone.com
However, even companies with existing websites we can help maintain, improve, or provide marketing services for.
Example clients include restaurants, ad agencies, spas, professional organizations, non-profits, doctors, real estate agents, photographers, artists, massage therapists, etc.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design
1.) High-tech, cutting edge technology. Emphasis on the specific services I provide: Design, Development, E-commerce, and Marketing.
2.) We can provide all the services you need under one roof because I work with a talented team of other people to get the job done.
3.) My company works with companies both big and small, but emphasize the big ones. Friendly to ad agencies and working with other design/development companies, too.
How is your company different from your competitors?
Unlike other companies, we can provide all solutions under one roof. My network is large enough that I am connected to people who can come together to get almost any sized job done, and make it easy and stress-free for the business owner.
Style and Concept
What website design styles do you like?
I really like the clean, crisp Web 2.0 style sites that are coming out these days. Minimalistic but still with great subtle details here and there. Very business professional with maybe a little hint of abstraction. See list of links below for samples of sites I found that I like.
The design should incorporate my logo in with it somehow so that the "square" aspect is brought in somehow. My current website, which needs major improvement, is: http://squareoneinternetsolutions.com/ You'll notice how the layout is divided into squares and the whole thing is also a square. I like that concept but there's many other ways you could incorporate it, too.
What colors do you want to see in your website design?
WHITE, Red (from the logo), Gray, Black, and possibly other colors that look good. White background very necessary, please.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?
No particular objections. Try to stick with bold, crisp colors, though.
What adjectives should best describe your website design?
Clean, fresh, bold, high-tech, professional
It'd be great to make the website attractive to ad agencies (who'd hire me), too. Not sure what that means exactly, other than being straight-to-the-point copy and nice, hi-res pictures maybe. Taglines on each page or something cute like that those people just eat up.
What content must be included in the website design?
1.) Spotlight feature on Portfolio page to talk about most recent project, but still have a list somewhere of all the previous projects. Would prefer more of a short "case study" list than a straight line listing.
2.) On the Team page, remember that these are separate contractors with their own separate companies... so having a format on this page to show their companies off would be great. Almost like business cards or some similar concept. Place for their photo, logo, business information, strengths, and relation to my company.
Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?
Here are some links to sample sites I like. Keep in mind these are just what I found briefly to give you an idea, my site doesn't have to look exactly like these or anything.

Love the cleanness, use of photography, the menu is powerful in its simplicity, and the shadowing is great.

I know this has a black background but there's still something very clean about it, and I love the shadowing it uses and the "business professional" aspect. Also love the fonts. Wouldn't be opposed to a design like this for my own site with a black background if done extremely well.

Love the bold, big illustrations on each page. The "About" page has it's own unique look. The site design overall is a big TOO large, though, but I like where he's going with this.

Another black background at the top, but white on the bottom. I love the "Creative Workflow" diagram/graphic at the bottom. I would like something like that for my About page or Services page.

This is a very cool header for the Services page. I would like some sort of custom header like this, or like the next example.

Another great header for the Services page.

Something like this, but with the Honolulu Skyline would be really cool, too. Wouldn't do any animation work, just the design.
