LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
This is a small web 2.0 company founded by a programmer and a business person. We need help on the creative end. We are located in NY.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a site that functions and will allow users to create accounts, etc... The primary goal is to get this up and running as well as to have a demo site that we can show to investors. We will be customizing the open source project Pinax (http://www.pinaxproject.com) for the site. Cloud27 (http://www.cloud27.com) is a site that shows all the capabilities of the codebase.
The most important part of what we're doing, which extends typical social networking functionality, is the ability for users to create 'micro-events' which are events that happen in the future. Users can syndicate these micro-events to their friends and community members (based on zip code for now). Those users can see the micro-events when they are on the site, and vote on them.
All micro-events are public although we want to design it so that users are presented with events that are relevant to them based on geographic proximity, friend proximity, and keyword proximity.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Heavy Internet users from 15-35 years old. People who are very comfortable with minimal designs that give instant feedback and layouts which are conducive to easy interaction.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
I like extremely lightweight designs that are fast for the computer and for the user. I like homepages that are designed to be dynamic. I like process flows that take advantage of AJAX capabilities (i.e. no need for a page to reload). I like designs that are easily portable to other platforms (widgets, email, iPhone).
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
The design must be able to be written almost entirely in CSS without the need for tables and more than just a few images.
