LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

pocketnow.com is the highest trafficked resource for Windows Mobile News and Reviews. Windows Mobile is a mobile phone operating system that is made by Microsoft (just like RIM makes BlackBerry OS).

Our business model is such that engagement (that is, time on site and number of pages per visit) is *most important*. We've been around for ten years and thus have many thousands of pieces of content in our database. One of our goals for this design is to bring forth past content and give readers a reason to stay on the site and view as many pages as possible. This is key.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We need a fixed-width (1024px wide) design for our home page based on the attached wireframe. We also need 4 additional designs (permalink page, 2 review pages, search results page) that will be based closely on the home page template. The winning designer will have to present these 4 additional designs in the wrap-up portion of the project.

The home page is essentially a news blog, with a template wrapped around it that suggests content, shows a Twitter stream, etc.

What you see attached, as mentioned, is the wireframe. We are looking for all of the elements of the page to be designed by you, including: all buttons that you see (YouTube, Twitter, RSS, New in Town, next page, the search button, Read More), plus all of the icons (the little cell phone icon under Device Brand Filter, the comment icon, the tab that shows the news category, the down arrow for category filter). Also, all of the navigation bars and dividers should be designed.

Some areas are filler that you don't have to design but you should make space for. This includes all advertising spots, the Twitter feed, the blog post images squares, the video coverage box, and the area for Top Comments/Best Sellers.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Attached you will find four logo choices. To be honest, we don't know which one we like best (though we are leaning towards the third and fourth). Use the one that makes the most sense in your design. Feel free to tweak the logo slightly if it benefits your design.

We like colors of blue, gray, orange/gold/yellow...but we want to give you creative freedom to make the most clean, professional, and visual-pleasing design that you can come up with.
