LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
I want to build a social networking site for bears in the gay community. I have some idea about what I'm looking for, but I do not have the graphic skills to make it happen.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
I need basic site design graphics that I can use to make my site with. There are other sites in this space and the graphics are BAD. I mean really bad. Also, the graphics should look more organic and not slick and corporate. Corporate "slick" e.g. web2.0 would be a bad look for this site.
The look I'm trying to express in the included "idea" image below is a 1970's trucker type thing. blue collar mechanics shirts with name patches. Baseball hats and aviator sunglasses, etc.
What I need are basic site graphics; logo, top nav/menu, buttons, background, some basic icons for a site.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Men in the gay community that identify as bears or are into bears.
You should probably have "some" idea of what that means.
Bears are considered gay men with fur(chest hair) and/or size. They relate to a "hyper"-masculine type imagery. blue collar types.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
there's sooo much bad design in this space. but I like the idea of photo realistic items. scanned in name patch, etc.
and I don't like corporate "everything in their box" type designs.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
You can just call the site "BearSite" for now. I'll hopefully be able to change that in the psd later. The colors of the site should "echo" the colors in the image of the bear flag which is attached, but can deviate. I know these are difficult colors. But I tried to do something with it in the attached ideas image by using it in a "racing stripe" way.
I also like the look of 70's vintage color photograph as in the trucker photo that's attached.
