Target Audience

What is your industry?

Travel Industry

Describe the target audience for your website design

Leisure travelers looking to book hotel rooms across major US cities. More specifically travelers that simply have a budget and location in mind - and are looking to get the best possible accommodation that matches their budget.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design

We want to take the focus off comparing the cheapest room available in each hotel. This is what all hotel comparison sites do currently; simply sort hotels based on the lowest priced room.
We want to rather allow customers to compare ALL room types available - with other similarly priced options. Creating for comparison focused on value, and room quality.
So the outcome would all of a sudden be comparing the cheap rooms from 5 star hotels with the best rooms in 3 & 4 star hotels. Traditionally these hotels would never be compared because the lowest available prices on these hotels is so different.
The key is that we communicate:
- Room visuals / images
- Room type
- Room price
- Hotel location/amenities

How is your company different from your competitors?

The brief document shows how we wish to show hotel results differently from anyone else currently in the market. Taking the focus off cheapest rooms available and creating fairer comparisons - to help people find the best value and best hotel room for their budget.

What adjectives should best describe your website design?

Please review brief document. As we're comparing room types as opposed to just the cheapest possible rooms at each hotel, it's important that the results are more visual - and less about hotel star ratings and hotel brands. We also need an intelligent way of showing what type of rooms are being compared (e.g. suite, studio etc)

What content must be included in the website design?

The results page must show:
- Hotel name
- Room type / name
- Room image
- Room features
- Links to map location
- Price

It must also include a way of sorting through results and comparing results. Part of the design challenge is whether results are compared in the traditional vertical fashion or whether we do rooms side-by-side...

The goal again is to help people find the nicest room that matches their budget, location and amenity requirements. The design should focus on helping customers achieve this goal - which we believe more often than not, involves staying in higher end rooms at slightly cheaper hotels, than the cheapest rooms at the most expensive hotels - but that's up to the customer to decide and discover using your design.
