Office of Councilmember Jim Graham, Ward 1
What do you do?
We interact with constituents, communicate community and legislative developments, help citizens become more engaged and learn about their community and representative.
Do you have a desired website screen size?
How many pages (maximum of 5) do you need designed?
Between 1-5. 1 (a landing page) may be acceptable if the information can be contained
What is your industry?
Government administration, politics.
Describe the target audience for your website design
The design should be accessible to the range of residents in Washington DCs Ward One, the most diverse part of the audience. We want a look that will seem modern and sophisticated, but still accessible to those who are not regular web users.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design
Committed, engaged in the community
Accessible to all groups
How is your company different from your competitors?
CM Graham is a unique leader for Ward One who has been critical in bringing development to the area and advocating for community interests. He is accessible to and appreciated by the range of groups in Ward One.
Style and Concept
What website design styles do you like?
Sleek, modern, elegant. Corporate yet still colorful and artistic.
What colors do you want to see in your website design?
Include red somewhere, in keeping with the DC flag
What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?
None specifically, but any should be consistent with red.
What adjectives should best describe your website design?
Captivating, accessible, elegant
What content must be included in the website design?
We have several different logos these can be included, but the only requirement is that a picture of the councilmember appear somewhere on the page.
You can use any material or images on the current version of the website (http://www.grahamwone.com) or from the gallery (http://grahamwone.com/?q=gallery - which has over 5000) images
We would like something that shows the diversity of Ward One recognizing the important African American, Vietnamese, Latino, and Ethiopian communities.
Including a map of Ward One somewhere in the design may be helpful.
Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?
Please do not include any pictures of federal buildings (such as Congress). You are encouraged to use any pictures of Ward One, such as landmarks, buildings, and businesses in Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, Mount Pleasant, LeDroit Park, Parkview.
Including a map of Ward One somewhere in the design is good.
There should be a button to read the site in Spanish.
We need a feed for twitter, as well as links to Facebook, Google +. There needs to be another page for a calendar, though this may not need a separate page designed if it can fit in the landing page.
There should be several headers these might work as sidebars. Jims Committees/ Announcements/ Calendar / About Jim (with a dropdown menu for staff, contacts) About Ward One/ Constituent Information
There should also be a space for users to add their email and name to subscribe to updates from the website.
We hope for a design on a par with any of the other members of the DC Council, such as marycheh.com, jackevans.org, tommywells.org
We would like a second page for a gallery of pictures from events, those this could be contained on the main page, depending on how it is designed.
Please note: you do not need to use any of the shared files, though they may be helpful in the design.
