Randolph Bourne Institute
WHAT DO YOU DO?
We provide up-to-the-minute news and opinion on topics surrounding war, peace and US foreign policy. We advocate a policy of non-intervention with less wars and less meddling.
WHAT IS YOUR INDUSTRY?
Non-profit news and information website/portal.
DESCRIBE YOUR AUDIENCE
We have a devoted set of readers looking for detailed news on war and peace. We also have a lot of readers searching the web for information about US foreign policy. This project is for a re-working and tweaking of our homepage that gathers all the links to our own content and outside content. In particular, the new front page should intimidate a new reader less than the current design and also seem credible as a source of news.
WHAT ARE THE TOP 3 THINGS YOU WOULD LIKE TO COMMUNICATE TO YOUR AUDIENCE?
1. Consistent styling across all the pieces of the front page.
2. A calmer view of dozens of links than we currently show here: http://antiwar.com
3. A simple way to navigate to other parts of the site. The rollover navigation bar is our first attempt at adding more resources in a small space.
Style and Concept
WHAT STYLES DO YOU LIKE?
We already have the basic structure and pieces of the front page complete here:
We want to use this basic layout as a starting point. We need a designer to help us improve the spacing, colors, fonts, shapes, etc. The pieces shown in the above page must remain, but we are open to how they are presented. You can assume that the higher something is on that page, the more important we feel it is. We know that the current design uses some strange fonts and is a little busy. Ideally, we want to keep a lot of information on the page without shocking the readers.
WHAT COLORS DO YOU LIKE OR HATE?
We want to keep colors that match or go well with our logo (attached).
ANY OTHER ADDITIONAL INFO? (OPTIONAL)
We need a design that cleans up how all the content on our homepage is presented. Please focus on spacing, colors, consistency, fonts etc. and treat the structure of the site as presented here:
We are going to keep the major pieces in the link above, but need help making it all fit together.
