LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are starting a new business venture selling high-end specialty iPhone cases and silicone skins.
This particular micro-site will sell a product-line consisting of Polynesian-themed skins & cases, exclusively of our own design.
This brand/site should be fun and kitschy, reminiscent of Tiki bars (e.g., Trader Vic's, Don the Beachcomber, Disney's Tiki Room) and all of the 60s Tiki culture.
In case you're unfamiliar with the Tiki culture, here are some links with photos, etc. of Tiki bars which might help spark some ideas:
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
A fun and clear website design for such a brand.
Something that exists primarily to show off these phone cases, with large images, front and center.
It should convey a real sense of fun. Ideally, it would be camp, kitschy, etc.
It should be loosely based around things we associate with Tiki culture (tiki carvings/statues, tropical beaches, Polynesia, mai tais & other fruity rum drinks, thatched roofs, surfing, canoes) and play with that combination.
You're not bound by the attached images, though they may be helpful in generating ideas.
Remember that Tiki culture is many times associated with drinking, so it is _not_ strictly necessary that the site appeal to children. If kids like it, great. If not, that's OK, too.
Please note that this will be implemented as a Wordpress theme, if that makes any difference.
1. Home page. Should clearly show at least one (featured?) product very large, while showing the other products in the product line smaller. Should have the logo (attached) somewhere, along with common elements like navigation, shopping cart, contact us, and so on. Very important: users should have the option to purchase an item right from the home page, without having to view a product's own detail page.
2. Product detail page. Again, a large image of the product front & center, along with some sort of photo gallery or light box slideshow available, too.
3. TikiCase.com/resellers. This page should probably be a split page serving the dual purpose of helping a customer find our products at a nearby retail store, and directing a potential reseller to sign up. (You're not required to design the "register as a reseller" form, though. We're more concerned with helping customers find our stuff in retail shops.)
4. TikiCase.com/tell. This page should have a form wherein people can register their case with us, and upload a fun photo of them with their case. Below that should be a light-box photo gallery of previously submitted "action shots". For something similar (though not visually attractive), please consult http://www.thinkgeek.com/action-shots/.
Other pages (shopping cart, checkout, etc.) will be handled by the e-commerce plugins, paypal, google checkout, and so on.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
An adult with an iPhone who's bored by simple (mostly dull) cases currently available. This is not about protecting your phone; it's about personalizing it.
This case isn't a pricey phone accessory; it's an inexpensive way to feel like you got a new phone.
Despite the fact that Tiki culture is fun and may appeal to kids, children are _not_ our target audience. Tiki culture (and certainly a Tiki bar) is many times associated with drinking, so please do not design the site with kids specifically in mind.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
As with many projects on cS, we find that apple.com is really the gold-standard in product-centric sites. The products are clearly displayed, and somehow, the other elements simply don't distract.
That said, we're clearly looking for something different that accomplishes a similar goal (i.e., selling stuff).
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Clear marketing of products, with Tiki-inspired fun.
