Business Info
What type of website do you need?
Corporate website
Business Name
Pin Drop Farms
What do you do?
I am an independent market research consultant and moderator with over 20+ year working within health industries (biotech, pharma, med tech). I want to create a site where mid-level researchers can connect, share and grow their professional acumen. I plan on having a blog to drive content and will add podcasts. I am also trying to add a forum where professionals can connect openly or anonymously.
Do you have a desired website screen size?
I currently have my site on squarespace. www.pindropfarms.com. It's started. Squarespace, I believe, uses 1024 x 768 resolution that is easily converted to mobile views.
How many pages (maximum of 4) do you need designed?
Not sure but probably 4
Target Audience
What is your industry?
Consulting and Professional Services
Describe the target audience for your website design
My primary target audience is market researchers and marketers working for market research agencies and as well pharmaceutical, biotech and other health industries. I would like to include content for consumer industries as well.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design
This is on my "About" page: Pin Drop Farms, designed for market researchers by market researchers. Content is always fresh and grown from the people and companies that make our industry like no other. Discover new tools, techniques and innovations. Explore new companies and meet the experts raising the bar for our profession.
I hope this site inspires you to connect, share and grow with your colleagues. Feel free to leave a comment or follow us on social media.
Thank you for stopping by the farm!
How is your company different from your competitors?
There are a lot of blogs out there that cover market research. However, I want this site to be more personal, story driven and insightful. You can check out similar sites at http://www.greenbookblog.org/. You will find popular blogs listed. You will also be able to see their site. My blog/website is specific to the needs of market researchers and marketers who want to learn their craft and stay up on the latest companies and innovations. I plan on monetizing the site through google adsense.
Style and Concept
What website design styles do you like?
I chose the name Pin Drop Farms because it has a fresh feel (I hope) and is memorable. The Pin Drop represents many destinations like you would find on a google map. The "Farms" part of names means that this is a place to grow, learn about your destination. It is by no means a farm. Also farm is play on the word pharma. That said, this is a corporate site. Bear in mind that is corp casual is a recent phenomenon for us old timers (blue suits, string of pearls was the flavor). However, the audience I am trying to reach is younger and may not recall the suits. I want to embody a casual, fun, flare to attract young professions. So I don't want it to be stodgy but the art cannot overpower the content. Again, my unique flare is for people to feel connected at eye level rather than a birds eye perspective that is didactic and boring.
What colors do you want to see in your website design?
I would like to have an industrial, steampunk, yet corporate colors. Nothing too bright. I love blues and reds and believe navy rather than cyan could work. Cool positive tones. That said, I would like to see your personal style.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?
No neon colors. No pink. If orange is used it cannot be the dominant color. Think of a rust color (orange family) that contrasts the blue. I used to work for a company that used orange (like an orange fruit color orange). Sadly, I kind of detest that color now. Every stinking thing was orange. Ugh.
What adjectives should best describe your website design?
Well the theme is Connect Share Grow. I want people to feel like they walked into a chic office space found in the meat packing district in NYC yet homey enough to rest their feet on couch and drink coffee without having to use a coaster. Friendly chic?
What content must be included in the website design?
I have to keep my site on Squarespace with the name Pin Drop Farms. I would like to keep the tagline Connect Share Grow. The current logo is something that I could create for free on Squarespace. I also need to use this design for twitter, linkedin, google+, etc. I'm not sure what else to add here. I haven't added any content to the site yet. It will be primarily blog and or podcast driven.
Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?
Again, I have my domain name and host site is squarespace (www.pindropfarms.com). So I have to work with that and it has to be user friendly for me. I am having a very hard time making it pretty and need to devote my time to the content and not web design. Ultimately, I would like to work with someone who can give me a tutorial on how to upload the art, etc. I don't have the latest version of photoshop. Nor do I want to learn photoshop. Also bear in mind that this a start up.
