Office Interiors & Design
What do you do?
We help sell office furniture such as chairs, desks, file cabinets, conference room equipment and other furniture items in an office. Even though we sell office furniture, its our people that we want to highlight and we want to highlight people interacting with people.
Do you have a desired website screen size?
Standard size of 1280 width is what I'm looking for. On the homepage we want it to remain clean so about 900 tall is what we need.
How many pages (maximum of 5) do you need designed?
3 pages. Home page, gallery page and a staff page.
What is your industry?
Consulting & Professional Services
Describe the target audience for your website design
Our typical site visitor is our existing clients, contacts looking for our contact information, or people in charge of purchasing looking for commercial office furnishings. The majority are located in the southeast Nebraska area, mainly Lincoln and Omaha, but our current work in the last 3-5 years has included Norfolk, Concord, Sioux City, Kearney and Grand Island.
Most of our work is for our existing clients and our new business is referrals and networking. Some of our existing clients have branches in other cities across the U.S. and internationally, or we find clients through some of our partnerships with other designers.
Some additional audiences include being more appealing to the larger, more high profile Architecture & Design firms. Many of these firms are Lincoln & Omaha based firms, but some have multiple locations across the U.S. We would also like to increase our presence in the Omaha market, which is probably best accomplished through the A&D community.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design
1. We are people based. Our people sale and interact with our products and we want to show people having fun. This needs to be a fun based website. Please check out the staff photos so you can get the feel of how fun we wan to make this.
2. We are a creative firm that allows us to be really good at what we do. We are creative with layouts and helping to fit client's needs.
3. Did I mention this has to be fun? We are not looking for the typical, stoic corporate look. We really need to get across this is different and fun.
How is your company different from your competitors?
We want to distinguish ourselves not only a furniture dealership, but as a full service, creative design firm. There should be emphasis on our capability to create high style design and that we are able to work on a wide range of projects both large and small. Plus our people and that we are fun. (Have I stated that enough yet?)
Style and Concept
What website design styles do you like?
http://www.vonin.com.br/ - simple design but a lot of impact, links next to the images
http://www.livinglounge.at/# - Easy to navigate the images, also simple and great design
http://www.sidemark.com/ - Great splash page. Simple and clean, not a lot of text to distract
http://www.shinobicontrols.com/ - Like the design, also, very simple, easy to follow links. Also like that the testimonials are scrolling at the bottom.
http://www.spinweb.net/ - Under the main header graphic, the several links for videos, learning center, podcast, etc. I like that these items are highlighted and are easy to find and click on. I think if we have videos or ergonomic studies or any other features that wed like to highlight that this is a great way to direct the user to them.
What colors do you want to see in your website design?
Our corporate color is a burgundy/red color, I believe that it is pantone #193 that is used on the business cards, although I would have to confirm that because if you look up that color it does seem a little too pink. I think that using a red/black/grey/white palette would create a really strong contrast and would go along with our brand.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?
Although blue is a great web color, some of our direct competitors use it as their corporate colors and on their websites. Our competitors sites are:
What adjectives should best describe your website design?
Clean and fun. Not corporate. We don't want the same stock photos and layout on this website. We want people to know how proud we are of our people and that we are a fun place to work with.
What content must be included in the website design?
I have attached a sheet that details out what content we want on the website. Please read and follow that sheet.
Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?
I have uploaded our staff photos along with our research document of what we want to see on the website. Our current website is http://www.oidinc.com. Its really ugly but you can get some idea on what we do there.
