LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Keel Solution needs a sharper, crispier visual design for our existing homepage. A visual brush-up based on our corporate visual identity.

Keel Solution is an IT company that makes products and services for the maritime / offshore oil & gas industry. The target audience thus is our customers, which are companies in this industry. The home page is our primary contact with our customers, as we do not have retail sale. The home page is the first place potential customers and business contacts check us out, so it needs to look corporate, professional and industry specific. We need to look like we are experts in IT in the offshore oil & gas industry. But because it does not contain an extensive amount of information, there is room for visual elements - the main purpose of the home page is sales, not information.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

A simple, straightforward layout which is stylish and modern but at the same time corporate and masculine. Not too much flash or similar, but a nice discreet twist of some kind is good.

The information architecture can stay as it is (existing page structure), unless the visual design demands a change.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

The target audience thus is our customers, which are companies in the maritime / offshore oil & gas industry.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

http://en.cop15.dk - Very clean. Too boring and information heavy but has a nice corporate look that signals seriousness. Graphic design similar to that of our own products

http://www.cdproject.net - Menus give good overview. But too little visual expression.

http://www.maerskoil.com - A bit too conservative, but very corporate and serious (as are we)

http://www.nordic-maritime.com - Front page is very simple and gives good overview. But the colours are not vibrant enough - to grey and dusty.

http://www.injectordoor.com - This of course is done in flash. But it is a good example of the best use of blue/grey colours. Good combination of corporate seriousness and a tasty design. Very good with the top banner image.

http://www.vestconsult.dk - The menu bar is a bit squashed, but the front page contains a lot of information without subpressing the visuals.

http://www.vestas.com - Nice and peaceful design. Stylish and minimalistic. But has too many menus.

http://www.ramboll-oilgas.com - Nice and clean. Professional. The changing of the pictures on the front page create life.

http://www.esvagt.dk - Good overview. Professional. Good pictures.

http://www.skelia.com - Fresh. Good overview over content.

http://www.dongenergy.com - THE BEST: Has the same style as many of the above. But putting the slogan on a deep red tab like that gives it a fresh and modern twist. It breaks the vertical lines on the home page making it stick out compared to many of the other home pages mentioned above. Red, however, is of course not a Keel Solution corporate color.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

Corporate Identity Fonts: StoneSans and Helvetica Neue

Corporate Identity Colors: Pantone 2915C (light blue) and Pantone 5415C (dark blue)

Background: Preferably white or similar

Additional colors: Maritime, masculine, industrial, corporate - blues, grays, black/dark gray. See some of the homepages above.
