LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are an online educational platform. Traditional educational institutions have been offering
four elements in addition to raw information: prestige, organization, evaluation, and a social
community of peers. We are now bringing all of these elements to the internet via Classroom.tv.
We have access to thousands of classes from the top institutions. Students can choose courses
a la carte and use our proprietary class editor to build rich multimedia courses with integrated
video, whiteboard, and handouts, delivering them online either in real-time or on-demand. We
use leaderboards, and discussion walls to keep the enthusiasm of students high. We are also
integrated into social platforms.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need a website design for Classroom.tv. We are looking for a logo and templates (layouts, fonts, colors, etc). The logo will appear in the landing page and header of most pages in our site. It will also appear in stationary and in websites that we are targeting for marketing efforts.
The proposed designs can be shared in PNG, and then we will request the winning designer to provide images in vector-graphics format. Feel free to ask. We are happy to work closely with any and all designers to help aid in the creative process.
Specifically, we would like designs for 3 or 4 different important pages of the site (landing page, list of classes/content, single class page, and user profile page). All pages should look and feel very similar. Please take a look at some basic layouts that we have for these pages.
Apart from the logo, we will need several specific images, like an image for user who hasnt uploaded profile pic, class without specified thumbnail, course without specifies thumbnail, several images of buttons, etc. All images should be original if possible and Classroom.tv should have the copyright. Also, any font used must be available to the public and free.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
The site is designed for anyone that would like to take a class or teach a class online. At the
beginning, the target audience will be college and university students coming from English
speaking countries. Eventually, we will expand to "corporate universities", and K12 students.
We will also expand the target audience to Europe, Latin America and Asia. Instructors will
include independent part-time instructors and educational institutions. So there should be no
type of bias in the target population. The audience should perceive our business as a modern
social website (think Facebook, Youtube,..) with an educational focus.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We like cool, modern, "web 2.0" (rounded corners, but small radius:-)) sites. We like simplicity,
small fonts and few colors. Examples of sites that we like are facebook.com, youtube.com, and
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
**The font/layout should encourage participation by making the functionality on the site easy to see, use, and understand.
**A clear sense for the interactive elements of the site including rollovers (highlighting, borders, etc), the click state of buttons, etc.
**960 px page width. 960 download: these are grids for a 960px site ( http://960.gs ). This may or may not be useful.
**The landing page should be divided into a wide column (640px) and a narrow column (320px).
WE ABSOLUTELY DO NOT WANT:
**Neon/bright colors. They should be classy, and easy on the eyes and all of the colors should work together well.
**Lame stock photography, or pictures of people.
**Anything similar to other popular restaurant/bar listing websites. You know who they are.
