LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:

Broadcast Educators, LLC is an educational services company that provides specialized curricula and training for the broadcast industry. A major component of the business model is to provide online courses on a range of broadcast-specific disciplines. Therefore, the company requires an e-commerce and content-delivery website capable of supporting the following business functions:

* Online class delivery--interactive content, test-taking, etc.

* Dynamic marketing of online products.

* Dedicated online community/social network.

* Information on consulting services for the B2B market.

* Corporate identity and information.

This project is only for Phase 1: Homepage and interior pages, sub-pages.

A second project will be issued for Phase 2: The classroom experience.

Designers are encouraged to consider and present creative ideas for how best to present site information in a compelling and easy-to-navigate way.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:

We are looking for a design with the following characteristics:

* Clean and crisp design.

* Easy to navigate.

* Reflects a technological/cutting edge identity.

* Reflects a broadcast-oriented identity (TV mostly, but also radio and sound recording)

* Does NOT overuse typical "web 2.0" design cliches (reflections; aqua effects; the general bright & happy/kid-friendly look).

* Incorporates high-quality imagery.

* The site should accommodate screen resolution of 1024x768 (completely viewable horizontally; upper and lower content wells visible above the fold)

Content areas for the homepage include:

* Primary content well that is image heavy with headline text

* Sub well for marketing content (e.g., specials/deals, new course highlights, etc.)

* Sub well for "quick links" to key internal pages (e.g., sign up now, log in, join the community, etc.)

Navigation

* Main navigation should be a horizontal bar at the top of the page or comparable

* We anticipate requiring vertical subnavigation for interior pages

We are open to designers' ideas on color palette, fonts, etc. The only stipulation is that the site must work with the existing logo.

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:

We have two general categories for our target audience:

* Broadcast professionals and aspiring broadcast professionals. These folks are either already in the industry and are seeking a career edge, or are actively pursuing a broadcast career and want a leg-up/boost to competitiveness in the job market.

* More general population of job-seekers or those looking for a career change (assume skews male, 22 - 40, high school diploma or some college). Especially in this economy, there is a large population of folks trying to figure out how to either find work or make a positive career change.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:

www.tivo.com -- Image driven; ease of navigation; incorporation of marketing elements

www.xhtmlwebdesign.com -- Use of imagery; use of browser window/real estate

www.strayer.edu -- Clean, accessible, and navigable. Delivers key content (and drives toward sign-up) in a very visual way.

WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR DESIGN:

We are open to designers' ideas on color palette, fonts, etc. The only stipulation is that the site must work with the existing logo.
