Real Estate & Construction
About Your Company
Open Foreman is a web app that connects homeowners to contractors for small to large projects in their home. It's possible the home owner is handy, and can do some DIY work themselves, but they want a contractor to come in for one or a few pieces of the project. The website allows contractors to connect with homeowners, make bids on projects, submit estimates, and obtain work orders. The homeowner would be acting as a foreman for their own project. Homeowners may also hire a Foreman to hire contractors for work in their home - depending on which packages they choose. Contractors pay a membership and go through an approval process to become available to make bids to homeowners. These contractors will have specialties in different areas (plumbers, electricians, drywall, painting, etc.).
We want people to take control of renovating their house, removing walls, making it what you need it to be. We give you the ability, knowledge and support that you need to do a renovation project without having to hire a construction company. You can play contractor with professional technical and support always at your side. Avoid the terrible experiences with Contractors. We are giving you options.

- Registration / Sign In / My profile
At the very top of the page there should be a static banner with text on it explaining what Open Foreman is. Beneath it is an option to 'Join' or 'Login' > if you click register, two boxes appear with options to select 'I am a homeowner...' or 'I am a contractor'. Once they select their route - a form appears with registration information. If it was a contractor signing up they would recieve a thank you page with a notice that they need approval. If it is a homeowner, they will start to fill out form information for their family. (Pages 1-5 in PDF Wireframe). We would also like to see how a my profile page would be handled (where the user can see their email, pw, and billing information for contractors)
- Homeowners Dashboard
(Page 6 of Wireframe; Uploaded screenshot of local enviornment) This page represents a homeowner putting a project together for their home. This is for a New Project. They have options to upload floor plans, photos, videos, upload documents... On the dropdown menu you state what phase you're at and then there are pre-populated options in each category to say whether you want to 'get a contractor' or 'do it yourself'. and see an estimate, or what items have been completed.
- Contractors Dashboard / Bid Estimates
(Page 12 of wireframes) This is the contractors dashboard. This is where they can become an advanced member, or view their bids that they submitted, check the status of current projects, etc.
- Bid / Estimate Screens
(Page 8) Bids will be submitted by contractors, it should be easy to view what the homeowners submitted - any pictures, specifications, the details of the project, when the project is due. This page should also represent how videos will look and how the final estimate will read (page 11).
Measures of Success
Increased number of homeowner registrations & increased number of contractor registrations.
Top 3 Things
Family, Do-it-Yourself, Value
New & cool option, be your own foreman, DIY. We really want this to be relatable, understandable, and easy to follow. It's really just meant to help homeowners cut down on costs of hiring a full blown contractor for a big project to justify costs, it's about connecting homeowners with experts who can come in and get part of the job they need done.
