LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are a contemporary, upbeat and lively church in a fast growing bedroom community for Washington DC. The region will also be graced with 2 government facilities in the near future: the FBI and FEMA.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Our current website is in desperate need of a fresh/new and appealing look and user experience.
Specifically we are looking for 2 pages
- Our home page
- an article level page (examples)
We want something that is warm and inviting.
so far the 'rustic' or grunge-ish look is appealing to us, but we wont write off something that is clean (some white space) and open.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Target age range from college up to mid-40's for look and feel.
Our congregation is made up of primarily young families. We also have 2 local Universities/colleges that we want to appeal to as well. Forward thinking we hope the new government employees will choose make us their new church home.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
we are only posting the following links for examples of the textured/grunge/warm/rustic sites we like. We want to respect their time and work into these sites and only give these links as style cues to what our words mean.
-> We know you know this, but we just want to make sure everyone is on the same page!
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We are not looking for a logo redesign. Although, you can use the various supplied logo formats to make it fit better into your design if need be - we ask you just be conscious of branding.
We have drawn up some basic wireframes as a rough guide of what we think will fit best for us.
--- As listed in the HomePage.png the slide show aspect ratio is key - make it as big or small as you see fit, but the ratio must be 4:3
> oh and we're gonna use the ever popular http://slideshowpro.net/ to power our rotating graphics
--- we're not picky about the nav function. Either a drop down menu (vertical, or horizontal) OR show the sub nav in the side bar on the following page.... you'll see it listed in the Article.png with a big optional next to it. Whichever you think works best with your design.
--- We would like 3 nav states: normal, hover, on/active
--- We're looking for all typographical styles: headings, subheadings, paragraphs, quotes, lists (ordered & unordered), links, etc. Loreum Ipsum text will work great to show a few styles.
Width is wireframed at 960px
--- alternative is 760px
(we're trying to stick with standards - either one - we're open)
we plan to use xhtml, css and jQuery to build the site & Expression Engine to power it
we can work with either photoshop or fireworks (our front-end guy loves FW CS4) but use whatever your comfortable with.
