LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
This is for TurnTo's partner sites. Watch our 90 second primer video at www.TurnTo.com . We provide a widget for social shopping. When you go shopping online, on any of our partner sites, our widget shows you who from your contacts, who from your social networks, and who from you neighbors (same zipcode) has already purchased on that site, and what they bought, if they want to share it with you. It's free to the shopper.
Check out our widget on the home pages of a few of our partners, for example www.CompSource.com, www.CelebritySeats.com, and www.Artfulwears.com. You can click in your email address and zip code (if you're not US based, just try 10023 as a zip code), to check out the user experience on the widget. It's free, and there's no spam involved.
Are you following so far ? That's really all that we do. CompSource is the example we'll use here, but there are already 22 sites in the program (and growing), and what we select for CompSource is probably what we'll want to offer all of our other partner sites as well.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
How do we know who from your friends has bought there and if they're sharing with you ?
Let's say you just bought a gadget on CompSource (one of our 22 partner sites). When you're done buying, on the order confirmation page (which comes after your credit card went through and was approved and says "thank you for shopping..."), CompSource dedicated some space ("banner space") for us to place a graphics/text that encourages you share your purchase with your friends. When you click on it, it takes you through a simple utility (provided by TurnTo) that allows you to upload you "social graph" - you can upload your contacts from web mail (e.g. Yahoo mail, Gmail, etc.), from Outlook, from Facebook, Plaxo, LinkedIn. You can then decide who you want to share with.
We need a banner (copy and design) to be placed on the order confirmation page of any of our partners, that would make the shopper want to share their purchase with their friends.
The user experience - when an internet shopper just finished buying something on a partner site (say they just bought an electronic gadget at www.CompSource.com a large TurnTo partner), we want to get their attention and make them click on the banner to share their purchase with their friends. When they click on the banner, they're shown an overlay page (not part of this project) that has copy on it, describing in more detail how it works, which then takes them to a TurnTo utility used to upload their contacts/social graph. The utility looks quite similar to the TurnTo homepage.
All that we need for this project is copy/size/design for the banner that gets placed on CompSource's (as an example) order confirmation page. This is the page a shopper sees after they just bought something on CompSource. Their credit card went through, and CompSouce is saying "thank you for your purchase, here's your order number and order details...". On this screen they make space for this banner. It's dimensions are flexible, but it cannot "take over the page". Today they're using a banner that simply says "share your purchase with your friends". You can see today's designs from a number of our partner sites in the attached PowerPoint. These are all screen shots of the order confirmation pages of our partners. We're looking for a different design/copy that will make a lot of people want to click on it, and share their purchase with their friends.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Some of our partner sites sell electronics to a primarily male audience. Some of our partner sites sell apparel, or fine china, to a primarily female audience. Others sell tickets to shows across the board, or teas, or adventure travel, or things for your dog, or watches. They all have an order confirmation page, which is where this banner will go. So the banner's copy and design needs to work across this very wide range of products sold and shopper demographics. The message is similar - convince the shopper to want to click to share their purchase with their friends. To be a guide to their friends when their friends are shopping online for similar things.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
In the attached PowerPoint you can see some of the designs our partners use today. We're looking for something more effective. The dimensions are flexible, but it has to make sense on an order confirmation page.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
We need copy and design that would make the user want to click and share their purchase with their friends. Be a guide to their friends. Help their friends when they're shopping online for similar things. Be a trusted reference to their friends. Let their friends turnt to them for advice when they're shopping online (by the way, that's why we're called TurnTo, but our name and logo really do NOT have to show on this banner, we're not yet a recognized brand name with shoppers).
