LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
Swim Across America is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising money to fight cancer. The grass-roots organization began in 1987 and has raised over $25 million dollars for cancer research, prevention and awareness for many of the country's top institutions including Dana-Farber, Memorial Sloan-Kettering and UCSF Children's Hospital. On the one hand, our open-water swims are high-profile events which attract Olympic legends and hopefuls, rising swimming stars and recreational swimmers, all of whom elevate the amount of money and awareness to the cause. On the other hand, it is a grassroots fundraising endeavor which belongs as much to the sponsors and volunteers as it does to the swimmers.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
This is our 4th annual swim in Greenwich/Stamford. Each year a t-shirt is given to all the swimmers and volunteers as a keepsake of the swim. We are looking for a design that is high-impact and tells the "story" in a quick read. I am attaching two of the previous designs. One is of a board that the swimmers sign each year - detailing "why I swim" and in whose honor. In 2009, we did a tribute where each swimmer signed a rock with the person/s names who they are swimming in honor or in memory of - and they threw it into the water and swam over them all at the finish line - in Long Island Sound. (Don't know if that can be used to show the personal impact that each swimmer brings??) Photos of the event (and rocks) can be found at our website at www.swimacrossamerica.org.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our swimmers range from 10 years old to 80 years old. Most fall in the 25-40 range....most from Fairfield County, CT and Westchester, NY. We want them to think that SAA is an amazing organization making an impact by swimming and raising money to fight cancer...not running, not biking, not walking. The personal reasons that each person have are unique - but make the event special.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
Everyone loved last year's design (WHY I SWIM) because it shows why we swim...the personal touch, the brother/family member that was affected by cancer. It honors those who are survivors and pays tribute to those who lost the fight. The swimmer one was also impactful because it shows the swimmer and the lighthouse is unique to Greenwich. (We start the event in Greenwich and end in Stamford).
Colors for SAA are red/white and blue.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Swim Across America (with making waves to fight cancer)
2010 Greenwich / Stamford
(room for about 10 sponsor logos)
