HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need an edgy, attention getting signed graphic that will become iconic - -we will use it on t-shirts for our investors and entrepreneurs.
There are three elements that are must haves - - some representation of light waves, some representation of an unknown but immensely attractive/compelling future, and some representation of guts/ballsy-ness/chutzpah about being willing to make bets when no one else will.
And, the original Ciena logo...either standalone or incorporated...because that was the larget jackpot in history for its investors, and for us.

WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
The Dark Side of the Moon album cover is a good reference point for the iconic look we are after. The illustrations in Science, Nature and Wired. We don't like 60s and 70s hip and we do like color. Think CSI and early House episodes - -gritty but gripping.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Must have visuals that explode off the page, a clarity of message or intent and an unmistakeable reference to the power of light.
