What clothing design styles do you like?
First and foremost we're not looking for "Yankee Doodle Dandy Used Car Sales on the 4th of July." We want interesting design that incorporates the American theme.
Check out what we're looking for at pinterest.com/socialaundry/design-americ...
We feel that there is a big whole in the entire apparel industry that we can fill, namely crowd sourced apparel that doesn't revolve around crude humor, irony, pop culture mashups or copyright infringement. We feel that there is a generation of cool people out there who have graduated from sophomoric t-shirts and are ready for apparel that is just north of the average t-shirt.
We believe in design, apparel and fashion as a whole package, not just a funny cartoon on a shirt.
Stylistically we will be offering apparel that feels like it could be purchased at a cool downtown boutique or a nice retail spot and it does not feel like it came from a t-shirt-a-day internet site. Think Gap, Old Navy, Urban outfitters, Banana Republic.
We are NOT going to print the same design on Men's and Women's apparel unless it works well. Most of our designs will specifically be tailored to print on Men's or Women's, not both.
How many colors should be used in the design?
This is your option. The design can print as 1-8 spot colors or Four Color Process.
What colors do you want to see in your clothing design?
Red, white and blue is totally optional. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the best designs shed the dogma and explore design with minimal or non-conventional colors for the theme.
As long as you have reviewed the design brief we leave this to you. If we feel you aren't connecting the design/color composition to the target we will give you feedback.

What adjectives should best describe your clothing design?
Creative, expressive, honest, open, trendy.
How will you use the clothing design?
We are launching our site (socialaundry.com) in early July and would like to get the creative juices flowing with your help. The winning entries here will be featured on the site as part of our Americana line.
What must be included in the clothing design?
Theme/imagery that connects back to America in some way. Should not be over the top at all! Please check out our pinterest links below for inspiration and guidance.
