Creative Brief

Who are you?

ALIVE Outdoors is an outdoor education company based in Ontario, Canada. We are a small business that mostly works with students ranging in ages from 7-17 years old. (Schools hire us-- and we typically take a whole grade away at a time-- up to 300 students-- and as little as 40) The mission of ALIVE Outdoors is to use experiential outdoor education to empower young people to recognize and embrace their inner potential.

The backbone and essence of each ALIVE Outdoors experience is right in our name: Adventure, Leadership, Individuality, Values and Empowerment.


Program Objectives:
Learning through experience allows students to become more aware of whom they are, and they have the chance to align their behaviour and choices with their values. During all ALIVE experiences there is an emphasis placed on the idea that leadership begins from withinand that personal leadership is defined by all the small actions we doespecially when no one is watching.

What do you need?

I am looking for a T-Shirt design. Every year we make a t-shirt or two and give them away to teachers, staff and students.

It will likely be printed on a white t-shirt-- but athletic grey or a navy shirt is also a possibility. Essentially-- it would be great if the design worked on a variety of coloured shirts.

Who Is Your Audience?

The shirt is mostly for students-- mainly high school students-- teenagers-- boys and girls-- it will be screened onto a unisex t-shirt. It is also for teachers and sometimes our outdoor instructors/canoe tripping guides wear them too.

It has to have an outdoorsy feel-- and also just feel positive-- simple is good too. Typically I put the ALIVE Outdoors logo on the back of the shirt-- with an inspiring quote. I have not picked the quote yet-- so that is irrelevant at this point-- but an example from the past is "The real you is who you are when no one is watching." Another one that we used was a Dr. Seuss quote: There is no one ALIVE who is you'er than you." I have attached two examples of shirt designs we have done in the past just to show you some samples.

The quote that may go on the back (between the shoulder blades) this year is this:

To be yourself in a world that is constantly trying to make you something else is the greatest accomplishment.

OR these are other possibilities:

The only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.

Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.

Requirements

We Like These Examples

I do not have any examples other than the 2 shirts from the past that I have attached-- I just want something creative-- that gives a message of the fact that we are an outdoor company that believes in the power of the experiences we offer people-- and we want to spread positivity.

I am envisioning something on the front (but it could be the back too or off to the side like a tree growing or something like that) of the shirt-- and you can incorporate the logo if you want-- or not. You can have ALIVE Outdoors on there-- or notbut that would be nice (If you do write the company name-- ALIVE must be in capitals-- as it is an acronym.)

We Absolutely Must Have

The design needs to be in the same colours as our logo- this will save me from having to pay for more than a 3 colour screen print. (The logo is attached in 2 different formats)-- you will see that it's red, yellow, navy and white-- but typically the white just ends up being the t-shirt coming through the design.

It's also ok for the design to just be one or two colours-- but it just needs to be one of the colours of the logo.
