LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
A social news website where readers, not editors, determine what goes on the front page. This shirt is going to be sold on our store http://reddit.com/store and will be imagined by our community. They will submit and vote on shirt concepts, crowdSPRING will create designs, and the reddit community will then vote on them to determine which will become a shirt. There's no design basis for this shirt, it just has to look awesome.
Here's our blog entry announcing it:
And take a look here for what our community voted as the best shirt concepts:
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
A shirt design incorporating the highest scoring elements from the reddit discussion. It will go on an American Apparel t-shirt of color to be determined (whatever looks the best). 4 colors maximum.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
The reddit community is very geeky, median age 28, predominently male (tho, the shirt shouldn't be hypermasculine) and well educated. There is a strong affinity for our mascot (the reddit alien) but it needn't be in the design. The community is what makes reddit so special -- this will likely come through in the design suggestions you receive.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
I think the only guidelines we can give here are our current reddit shirts:
We've never had any trouble selling a simple shirt with the reddit alien on it, but we'd like this design to stray a bit from that convention (like our more recent JAWS backwards and Karate Kid backwards shirts have).
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
Nothing lame. We'll let the reddit community determine if there's anything that's absolutely indispensable. If it looks like it could be sold at a trendy fashion boutique, it won't do well.
Oh, and here's our schedule for the project as well:
10JUL Project ends
13JUL Finalists appear on reddit for voting
17JUL Winner announced - rejoice!
