What do you do?
Non-profit creating cutting-edge middle school curriculum on global issues like clean water, poverty, homelessness and the environment.
How many pages of print design do you need?
5 pages total- (Cover 1pg, Module Introduction 1pg, Teacher Lesson plan 2pg, student worksheet 1pg)
List the size requirement(s) for your print design
8.5 x 11 pages with .125" bleeds, so final size 8.75 x 11.25.
What is your industry?
Describe the target audience for your print design
Middle school teachers and students. Middle school : grades 7-8
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your print design?
This curriculum module will help teachers be the best in the world!
This module is professional, cool design and relevant.
This module will make life as a teacher EASY, making incorporating these global modules into current lesson plans simple.
Style and Concept
What print design styles do you like?
Cover: Artistic cover using photography/images/art to express the module topic. In this case Clean Water. Inside page design should be easy to read, have a nice flow and look stellar - keeping with the theme from the front cover.
Module Introduction: Keeping with the flow and design of the front cover, this page is vital as it attracts the teachers eye and is our opportunity to convince them that this module will make their job easy! The 4 strands box should be identified by unique colors that flow with the front cover design. (Note: When the module is complete each strand (science, health, language arts and social studies) will have three lessons each.)
Lesson Plan: Has 5 main sections, each section needs a unique icon/color identifier that will make the section easy to pick out.
Think and Act
Student Worksheet: This page can be simpler than the others, still with the same flow and style as the module so far. Just keep in mind that these sheets will most likely be printed in B/W by the teacher and handed to the students in class.
What colors do you want to see in your print design?
Open to ideas.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?
Hmmm, I'll leave this up to the discretion of the designer.
What adjectives should best describe your print design?
Artistic yet classy, sleek and professional, clean and eye-catching, powerful and engaging. Not too busy. Stock art can be used but no cheesy generic people images.... it must be compelling from the front cover.
How will you use the print design?
This will be available to schools across the county via .pdf download.
What content must be included in the print design?
This is fairly extensive so I am including a zipfile with the copy/content:
1. The zip file will contain 3 Word documents with the health strand curriculum content/instructions as well as flow and layout guidelines. As well as all the copy/text needed.
2. The second .zip file contains our logos
The front cover should contain:
- First Generation logo (doesnt need to be big or prominent)
- Module topic CLEAN WATER
- 7-8th Grade
I feel $300 for these initial designs is a good payment - know also that the successful designer will receive the contract to finish the whole module, containing 12 lesson plans/student worksheets, negotiated separately. There is also potential to complete 3 other modules based on the quality of work.
Final output should be delivered in .PSD or InDesign format, along with a .PDF version
