What is your industry?

We are a startup, not a large corporation. Our books appeal to a broad range of independent travelers from the budget conscious to the hi-end luxury minded. However we differential ourselves from the competition in that we are a modern/next generation guidebook series that offers direct and edgy content that focuses on local interaction and sustainable travel. We provide more city maps than other guidebooks and list GPS coordinates for all locations. And we give it to you any way you want it - paper book, downloadable and printable PDFs, on your Kindle, Blackberry or on custom location aware apps for iPad, iPhone and Andriod devices.

Our target audience is a tech savvy, adventurous independent traveler that is interested in accessing their travel guidebook content across a number of platforms; a paper book and their computer or mobile device.

The winning design will have a simple design dominated by a single striking/crisp cover photo related to South Africa that conveys a sense of adventure and evokes reader interest.

What content must be included in the print design?

Front Cover:
1. Modern Overland Logo (attached)
2. Book Title: South Africa, Lesotho & Swaziland
3. Cover Photo. Selecting an appropriate, fitting and visually pleasing cover photo is an integral part of this cover design project. Attached are a handful of possible cover photos to use, but the winning design will either have color enhanced versions of the supplied cover photos or more likely a vibrant new/different cover photo related to South Africa, Lesotho or Swaziland that that conveys a sense of adventure and evokes reader interest.
4. A banner or text near the bottom (for a rough concept, take a look at the attached LP Cover 1.jpg). The copy of which is included in the (attached Front Cover Bottom Banner.doc)

Spine:
1. Modern Overland Logo (attached)
2. Book Title: South Africa, Lesotho & Swaziland
3. Possibly a crop of the cover photo so that the book can be easily identified when on the shelf.

Back Cover:
1. Modern Overland Logo (attached), tag line underneath not your grandmas guidebook
2. A mix of activity based photos (attached as Activity Photos).
3. Descriptive Text in a styled format, possibly a moderate Cloud Tag Style format similar to the concept, but the exact look of the (Attached Cloud Tag), the four paragraphs of copy are:
a. Next generation guidebook makes independent travel more enjoyable with GPS coordinates for every listing, accurate satellite based maps and edgy content delivered anyway you like it: paper book, printable PDFs, on your Kindle, iPad, or with your custom location aware app for your iPhone, Adriod or other mobile device
b. Expert writers provide in-depth and candid information on the best things to do, places to stay, insider tips, hidden hot spots and honest reviews on the best restaurants, nightlife and entertainment
c. Adventure activities packed with excitement such as cage diving with Great White Sharks, ostrich riding, wildlife hikes, and information you wont find in other guidebooks such as detailed coverage of townships where you will likely have some of your best experiences
d. Travel with Impact. We seek out and identify enterprises throughout the country that are making a serious effort to be environmentally or socially responsible and we tag them with an [IMPACT] stamp throughout the book to make it easy for travelers to actively support these progressive establishments
4. Bottom section:
a. Text: 10% of all profits from the sale of this book are donated to educational initiatives within South Africa, Lesotho & Swaziland
b. FSC Logo (attached) and ISBN/Bar Code (attached)
