Target Audience
What is your industry?
Publishing and Media
Describe the target audience for your print design
The target reader is 27-60 years old, and a fan of literary fiction.
The book is NOT: Chick Lit or Romance. These are people who read books, whether on an e-reader or in hard copy. Think serious current fiction.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your print design?
I want to portray that this book is a serious piece of fiction. Think work by Jodi Picoult, Margaret Atwood, Louise Erdrich, Joanna Trollope, Barbara Kingsolver, Anna Quindlen.
Style and Concept
What print design styles do you like?
I like color that will pop on the Amazon page. I'd like to see something suggestive of a story with some ominous elements, while beauty and joy are still present. I'd like the title to be the most visible element, in a large font. Font can be creative as long as it is legible.
What colors do you want to see in your print design?
I like apple green, emerald (pantone 2013), lavender, cobalt, metallics.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?
No Red.
What adjectives should best describe your print design?
Clean, contemporary. If using a female form or fashion elements, those need to reflect the American 1930s.
How will you use the print design?
Ebook cover, then Create Space hard copy book cover
What content must be included in the print design?
Title of book: THAT KIND OF GIRL
Author of book: Christy Ogilvie
Please include something evocative of a female nature, with duality. A good girl OR a bad girl, or... BOTH.
