Creative Brief

Who are you?

Sourcebooks, Inc. (www.sourcebooks.com) is a dynamic and growing trade book publisher who produces nearly 300 new titles a year. We are looking for talented freelance designers/artists who can produce book covers for our Sourcebooks Casablanca imprint, which is home to our growing mass market romance titles.

What do you need?

We are looking for the full front cover design (art creation and type setup) for one of our mass market romance titles.

This cover is for one of our New York Times Bestselling authors. The story is a Scottish time travel romance, including a modern heroine and a hero who is a Scottish Clansman from 16th century Scotland.

If selected the cover may require additional revisions prior to project award based on the publisher's review and may be used on the book in our upcoming season.

Who Is Your Audience?

The target audience for our Mass Market Romance books are 25+ urban/suburban females. This category of the bookstore has a very defined and well known aesthetic which can be seen in the comparative titles provided.

We Absolutely Must Have

In the proposed book covers, we must have the following:

- The cover must convey a sense of 16th century Scotland and the story line.
- The cover image should have a partly bare chested hero wearing a kilt.
- Include placement of the following text elements from the title spec sheet:
- Title
- Author name (including New York Times Bestselling Author)
- Tag
- Quote/attribution
