Jones McClure Publishing

What do you do?

Jones McClure Publishing was founded to publish user-friendly law books. Since the first edition of O'Connor's Texas Rules * Civil Trials now commonly referred to as the "trial lawyer's bible" we have upheld our tradition of publishing books geared toward the practicing lawyer. The unique format of our publications, as portable soft-bound books written in plain English that are fast and easy to use, has filled a special need for attorneys across Texas and nationwide.

How many pages of print design do you need?

One cover pattern design

List the size requirement(s) for your print design

All of the designs must be original patterns. The winner will need to provide a Photoshop file (layers, not flattened.) The final image size required is 9 x 12 vertical, 300 dpi.

Target Audience

What is your industry?

Legal publishing

Describe the target audience for your print design

The majority of our customers are lawyers, law professors, and law students.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your print design?

Our covers stand out in the legal publishing. They are unique, creative, and professional.

Style and Concept

What print design styles do you like?

We are looking for new and inventive pattern designs for our covers. Lawyers refer to our products as the law books with the funky covers. So, we dont want to stifle your creativity. We are ONLY looking for background patterns. We do not want to redesign the elements of the book cover such as the title box, spine, etc. See the attached examples of a few of our published titles for idea of what were looking for.

What colors do you want to see in your print design?

We'd prefer that you design the pattern as a duotone in Photoshop. We will most likely change the final color. Colors are determined by past edition color selection and other colors used for books in our catalog.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?

Please feel free to use any Pantone (coated) color you'd like, plus Pantone black to complete the duotone.

What adjectives should best describe your print design?

We will consider anything that is interesting, hip, and current.

How will you use the print design?

The pattern design will be used as the background image for our Texas Rules and Federal Rules law book covers. And, their corresponding forms book covers.

What content must be included in the print design?

Again, we are only looking for background patterns. We do not want to redesign the elements of the book cover such as the title box, spine, etc. These elements do not need to be incorporated into your design.
