What do you do?

We offer high-quality, affordable classes and programs for toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children , including art, playgroups (Mommy & Me and On My Own), Mandarin, movement, dance, musical theatre, soccer, and our preschool alternative program. . We are a welcoming community open to all, and these programs are not religious in nature. Some limited financial aid is also available. We are located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

We have been using 2 sheets of 11 x 17 paper, folded to make 8 pages of 8.5 x 11 but are open to other ideas from designers as long as the paper is readily available.

Our audience is primarily parents (mostly mothers) with children aged 1-8

1. Programs are in a church building, but not religious at all; affordable with some financial aid available
2. A well-balanced, whole child approach with a focus on PLAY
3. Our instructors have years of experience and are warm, caring, and nurturing

Style and Concept

What print design styles do you like?

We like designs that are clean and uncluttered and that will make what we are offering look like it's fun. Also, the design needs to work as black writing on colored paper or one color (red, green or purple) on white paper. We will provide the text (please note that the text has been cut and pasted from several places, so please ignore the color, formatting, etc. and make a design and format that works).

What colors do you want to see in your print design?

The design must work either with the type in black on colored paper or one color (red, green or purple) on white paper. Currently the brochure is printed in purple on white paper.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?

No yellow or orange

What adjectives should best describe your print design?

down-to-earth, family-friendly, uncluttered, playful

How will you use the print design?

It will be used in a brochure to let people know about our programs. The brochure will be distributed to current families in our programs and available in front of our building and in other local public spaces. The brochure will not be a self-mailer.

What content must be included in the print design?

We have an old logo (logo attached below), but we are open to changing its font and design since the brochure will not be in 4-color -- or not using it at all. We really want designers' ideas, so feel free not to use the logo if you think that would be best. (If we don't use it, we still need the name of the church, website and phone number mentioned.)

The back page must include our FAQs and holiday schedule. There must be space for copy describing each of our classes (we have written the copy, which is attached below). In the copy, the classes are grouped together by subject area and should be in the brochure as well.

Critically important is a list of our program prices, which are included in the copy. Please suggest the best way to present our rates and schedule table; the layout we've included in the attachment below is hard to follow.

We are also sending a PDF of our registration form and parent waiver/consent form, which must also be included in the brochure. We are open to designers' ideas on how to make our registration form more attractive and user-friendly, but all the information currently asked for on the registration form must be included.

Please include the dates that the winter/spring semester runs--January 10 through May 24--in several places throughout the brochure.

We have some quotes from our instructors about why they like working here, and are open to designers' suggestions about where to place these quotes. In the attached copy they are currently included with the instructor bios. The copy also includes quotes from families who have taken our classes; please find a good place to put them as well as we think they are very important.
