Facebook is an important but underexploited opportunity for insurance agents.
Often, they are concerned that "virtualization" means "disintermediation", and stay away from the digital arena.
An effective Facebook presence is based on creating interaction with the customer, more than just a passive broadcasting of social posts.
The proper mindset of the agent should be to become effective in setting and managing the "virtual relationship", in the very same way he/she already does in the traditional "physical relationship".
Contemporary people interact both on the physical dimension and the virtual one at the same time: the virtual interaction is not a negative surrogate of the traditional social relationship, and people is going to prefer those business partners that will be able to cope with this.
