Style and Concept
What print design styles do you like?
You can see the other book covers we've used at www.lymebook.com. This particular author's other book cover can be seen here: http://www.lymebook.com/lyme-diet-book-n...
The styles we like, are styles with some eye-catching elements and colors, but not so much that the style becomes flowery, too artsy, or overly dramatic. It is a medical book after all. So a combination of subtlety, seriousness, and eye-catching.
What colors do you want to see in your print design?
If you see the author's other book at: http://www.lymebook.com/lyme-diet-book-n... you will see we used a rich red. We would like to use this color again. You can put in a little bit of green and gold, which are the Australian colors, but only a SMALL amount of these colors as they are sort of ugly!
What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?
pink, flourescent colors, etc.
What adjectives should best describe your print design?
professional, interesting, subtle, important, breakthrough, healing, Australian, disease epidemic, public health threat, take this seriously!
How will you use the print design?
For a book cover, a book about Lyme disease in Australia.
What content must be included in the print design?
Company logo (attached)
Picture of the author (attached)
Book title: "Lyme disease in Australia: What You Need To Know About This Emerging Epidemic"
Map of Australia, perhaps integrated into the front cover as a background image? (must include Tasmania and New Zealand).
The Southern Cross Star Formation found on the Australian Flag. Perhaps this could be put on the back cover somewhere? And, perhaps instead of stars, you could use ticks (yes, the bug) in the formation? (Lyme disease is caused by the bite of a tick). To see the star formation google "Australian flag" and read the wikipedia article on the flag.
Note: Use your creative abilities to modify the above guidelines as you desire, these guidelines are flexible, but don't go too overboard, remember it is a professional, medical book.
Ideally you will submit your design to me in Photoshop format so I can work with it; Photoshop format is preferred.
