Without dealing with his grief over his parents and brother's death, Ryder starts locking everything up that he used to be and change into a different version of himself, the honest, and troublemaker with a criminal record. Ryder Cambridge is on his last straw, stuck on a parole sentence and on his way to being a high school dropout his senior year but when hes given another chance to change his ways, he meets Brooklyn Covers the goodie too shoes of his class.
Brooklyn Covers, on the other hand, seems like she has everything planned out and is on her way to any ivy league university of her choosing. When her so called best friend, Ava slowly turns on her and makes Brooklyn's senior year a nightmare, it takes Brooklyn on a downward spiral that nothing can seem to stop the rollercoaster of betrayal and depression. Brooklyn and Ryder seems like complete opposites but they both may find they have more in common.
Set in present time, Brooklyn and Ryder is a young adult realistic fiction novel of a boy and girl trying to find their way through life especially their last year of high school. Brooklyn and Ryder is not a typical young adult novel, it explores the issues of depression, losing someone, drug usage and what it means to never lose yourself.
