Business Info

Business Name

Jlarranaga

What do you do?

I'm an author of two other novels on Amazon.com. One of those novels, "In the Company of Wolves," has a cover created by an artist I found here on CrowdSpring. I really like the talent here on this site!

How many pages of print design do you need?

Front and back cover. Maybe some banner ads down the road.

List the size requirement(s) for your print design

The book cover is roughly 8.5 x 5.5 but I can give the designer more specifics before we finalize the project.

Target Audience

What is your industry?

Publishing and Media

Describe the target audience for your print design

Young Adults, late middl-school or high school readers of Vampire and paranormal novels. Mostly girls but the main character is a boy and I think male readers will be interested. Keep in mind, there are a LOT of adults who prefer to read Young Adult fiction (thanks to the Harry Potter series and Hunger Games) so don't limit yourself to Young Adults as an audience.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your print design?

The book title: Blood Orange Soda

Three things to communicate:

1. This book is a cool, coming of age story. (Gothic version of Catcher in the Rye)
2. Lead character is boy (Goth teen: Google images for Goth teens for more info)
3. Music: the main character, Darius, is very much into music (Goth Rock)

Style and Concept

What print design styles do you like?

Might be fun to see some funky retro fonts from the 1970s. I lean toward illustration and art styles for my covers. See "In the Company of Wolves," by James Michael Larranaga on Amazon.com as a cover a purchased on CrowdSpring. I generally don't like literal covers showing characters faces. I'd rather allow the reader to create the character in his/her mind. An artistic representation of the story is better.

What colors do you want to see in your print design?

Red, orange (of course) and black seem like obvious choices, but I'm open to anything.

Love is a theme throughout the book, a subtle use of a heart somewhere on the cover would be good. There is a high school romance in the story line.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?

I'm wide open.

What adjectives should best describe your print design?

Edgy, artsy, cool, Goth, Rock.

How will you use the print design?

Book cover in print and online.

What content must be included in the print design?

Blood Orange Soda

I like my name stacked with my last name underneath first name and middle name and my last name fills the entire length of the names above. See example on Amazon: search James Michael Larranaga and you will see how my name is shown on "In the Company of Wolves."
