Business Info

Business Name

Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI)

What do you do?

We are a nonprofit organization who's primary members are biomedical equipmenet technicians, the people who maintain and repair medical equipment within hospitals.

How many pages of print design do you need?

One page. We need two versions, one in 4-color and one in 2-color (PMS 307 + K).

List the size requirement(s) for your print design

8.375" wide x 10.875" high, with bleeds.

Target Audience

What is your industry?

We are a nonprofit organization.

Describe the target audience for your print design

Our members are Biomedical Equipment Technicians. They work within hospitals to repair and maintain the equipment that belongs to the hospital (e.g. MRI machines, X-ray machines, infusion pumps, ventilators, blood pressure monitors, defibrillators, ECG monitors, pulse oximeters, etc.) Its important to note that our members do not deal with individual patients. For example, they may repair X-ray machines, but they dont take X-rays of patients and they dont read X-rays. Also, they dont work on equipment owned by individual doctors (like stethoscopes) nor do they work on disposable equipment.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your print design?

When our members look at the cover, they should immediatly recognize themselves and/or the work that they do. (The cover design should NOT focus on the city in which the conference is held.)

Style and Concept

What print design styles do you like?

We'd like something different from what we've been doing for the past few years (see files for sample 2010 and 2009 covers).

What colors do you want to see in your print design?

We need two versions of the cover, one in 4-color process and one in two color (PMS 307 + black). For the 4-color version, the colors should work well with the logo colors, which are PMS 307, PMS 194, and black.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?

No specific prohibition.

What adjectives should best describe your print design?

Clean. Simple but effective. A design that works equally well in two-color and in four-color.

How will you use the print design?

We will use the cover for several brochures and programs for the AAMI 2011 conference, including the Preliminary Program, Exhibitor Prospectus, Final Announcement, Onsite Program, and Sponsorship Brochure. The text on the cover must be editable (not outlines) so that our staff can update the cover text for each program or brochure.

What content must be included in the print design?

Name of the publication: Exhibitor Prospectus
One-line teaser: Reach over $800 million in purchasing power!
Web address: www.aami.org/expo
AAMI 2011 logo (see files)
Tag line (usually near the logo): "The Premier Conference for Healthcare Technology Management"

The art must be in a flexible format so that our in-house staff can separate the layers for two-color printing and four-color printing, and any copy, banners, logos, or overlays must be removable so that we can work with just the actual graphic image(s). Specifically, we would like the final art to be in Adobe Illustrator CS3 (or earlier) format with the fonts included (not converted to outlines). In addition, any raster photo/graphics that are placed in the Illustrator file should also be provided separately in Photoshop (PSD) format, with the individual spot colors separated into separate channels (if applicable).
