Creative brief

The buyer added updates to the brief. Read them.

Business Name

A higher education textbook publisher

What do you do?

We publish custom textbooks for the higher education market. Our texts are primarily used in an online format.

How many pages of print design do you need?

Full page textbook cover spread (includes front and back cover) for print and eBook cover (front cover only). Only full spread is required at this point in the project.

List the size requirement(s) for your print design

Front and back covers are each 8.5 by 11 inches (not including the spine of the book). The eBook cover is 8.5 by 11 inches.

What is your industry?

Education and Universities

Describe the target audience for your print design

Graduate-level education students from very diverse backgrounds. This book is intended for use in the final course in a M.A. Education program.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your print design?

That the text's content is engaging and useful.
That this is the student's final course in their degree program.
That the student will be prepared to apply lessons to their professional career.

What print design styles do you like?

We like clean, modern covers with innovate font treatments and color combinations. We want the cover to reflect the modern platform on which it will primarily be used.

What colors do you want to see in your print design?

We are open to a palette of your choosing. Please keep in mind this book is for a graduate-level course.

What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?

We are open to a palette of your choosing. Please keep in mind this book is for a graduate-level course.

What adjectives should best describe your print design?

Clean, professional, modern, innovative

How will you use the print design?

The design will be printed on a small number of hard copy textbooks, but the front cover portion of the design will be the landing page for the eBook.

What content must be included in the print design?

Information on what should be included on the cover is included in the uploaded materials. The spine of the cover will need to include the title of the book and the author's last name. The back cover will need to include the book title, an abstract (will provide once the final design is selected), and an ISBN (there will be two ISBNs - one for the color book and one for the black and white book. Right now, we just need one version).
