Creative brief

Author's Name

J W Thomson

Unlike the countless faddy diets all obsessed with losing weight FAST, this publication takes readers by the hand and shows them how to SLOWLY change their lifestyle with monthly suggestions carried over a calendar year. They are taught the importance of varied, balanced eating and drinking habits (with strong emphasis on fresh fruit and vegetables accompanied by regular health-related information), exercise and adopting the right psychological approach.

Size Info

Trim size: 5.75" x 8.25" (A5 metric: 14.7 x 21 cm),
Page count: 130 (- 180 in future editions),
Interior type: Black and White,
Page color: White,
Spine width: 0.293"

Who are your readers?

Anyone with a SERIOUS weight problem, many of whom will have made unsuccessful attempts at dieting in the past.
The publication is written in a chatty, absorbable (semi-humorous) style designed to appeal to the widest reader target in both North America and the UK. (The monthly fruit and veg suggestions are also seasonally appropriate to both of these regions).

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your readers with this design?

1) The slow, painless but only way to lose weight and stay slim forever
2) The parrallel emphasis throughout on weight loss and healthy lifestyle
(this book is not aimed at people with anorexic ambitions)
3) The importance of broadening one's mental horizons (with regard to food, drink, exercise etc ...)

What colors do you want to see in your design?

GREEN (due to the heavy emphasis on fresh produce)

What colors do you NOT want to see in your design?

Describe the style(s) you like (traditional, modern, etc.)

Contemporary and Original (with good visual 'stand out')

What content must be included in your design?

I said to a few creatives that I would prefer not to have to pay any extra rights for the use of stock images, but I now retract that statement.
