BioMed Publishing Group
What do you do?
Publish books & DVDs on cancer, Lyme disease, related topics
How many pages of print design do you need?
2-sided flyer, so 2 pages
List the size requirement(s) for your print design
8.5 x 11 flyer with .125" bleeds, so final size 8.75 x 11.25.
What is your industry?
Medical - cancer patients and doctors
Describe the target audience for your print design
Mostly cancer patients, some cancer doctors. The book is an "alternative" book, so use of herbs, or other alternative art, might be appropriate, but only limited use of this, because the book is very scientific and professional. It isn't a "new age" or "feel good" book. It is a solid treatment book based on science. The book is entitled, "Defeat Cancer: 15 Doctors of Integrative & Naturopathic Medicine Tell You How"
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your print design?
This book will help you choose a course of treatment for cancer.
This book is professional, reliable, modern, and useful.
This book is worth $39.95.
Style and Concept
What print design styles do you like?
Sleek, subtle, professional. I like grays, blacks, and the colors on the book's website: http://www.cancerbooksource.com . I like mostly sans serif fonts.
What colors do you want to see in your print design?
Matching colors to book website: cancerbooksource.com
What colors do you NOT want to see in your print design?
Hmmm, I'll leave this up to the discretion of the designer, but stick to colors in book website, mostly.
What adjectives should best describe your print design?
Professional, sleek, subtle, not cheesy, not sleezy, not "templated", not generic. Not busy. I like negative white space. Think subtle, professional, light greys, etc. Stock art can be used but no cheesy generic people images.
How will you use the print design?
I will mail this flyer to cancer support group leaders who want to pass out the flyer to their attendees. I will also mail it to people who want to share with friends, family. The flyer will also be displayed at cancer and book conferences and events.
What content must be included in the print design?
This is fairly extensive so I am including 2 zip files with this posting:
1. The first zip file will contain a Word document with instructions as well as a few sample images / PDFs to get you started.
2. The second zip file has all the high resolution art.
The front of the flyer should have:
-picture of book
-main book description
-all doctors names, but NOT their clinic names or locations (just a simple list of their names)
-Joseph Mercola's endorsement
The back of the flyer should have:
-doc pictures, names, locations, clinic names
-other description (included in attached)
There is some other information such as price of the book, book title, etc., that you can place wherever you want, at your discretion.
The amount of content I am including will lead to the flyer looking somewhat sparse, most likely if it is 2-sided. THIS IS OK - I like white space. If it looks too sparse, use some stock art.
PS - I feel $515 for a 2-sided flyer is a very good payment - I am paying this amount because I realize there is some tedium involved in arranging all the doctor's photographs and their names, locations, and clinic names, on the back of the flyer. Don't be intimidated by the instructions in th Word file - once you read it a time or two, it will be pretty clear, and you can always ask me if you have any questions! I think a good designer could whip this up in just a couple hours, so have fun!
