Business Name

What do you do?

Deliver-It is a regional shipping company based in Southern California. We provide Overnight and Same Day delivery throughout the Western U.S. We pickup packages direct from our clients place of business, or via one of our area "Collect-It" boxes.

How many sides of the package require graphics design?

Two sides.

List the size requirement(s) for your package graphics design

Our project is to design a new Express Envelope. We are looking to put graphics on a new "portrait style" expandable envelope that our clients can use to ship. The approximate size of the envelope is 10"x13"x2'. There needs to be room to place a clear adhesive window (on backside) that is 9.5"x6" so it can accept a folded 8.5"x11" label printed from a standard printer. (8.5"x5.5" when folded).

What is your industry?

Describe the target audience for your package graphics

Our clients include payroll companies, Pharmaceutical companies, Law firms, e-commerce companies, architects, real estate/mortgage/escrow companies, etc.. Any business or person who receives a package is a potential new client. As such, we would ideally like to use the package as a branded touch point, with the potential of attracting others to sign up for an account.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your package graphics design?

Flat Rate up to 5 pounds

RFID tracking - the "i" in Deliver-It" includes a radio waves that signal our advanced tracking capabilities. Instead of using RFID, the message can be advanced or state-of-the-art tracking. I will leave it up to the designer to use their imagination. Perhaps a satellite reference or image beaming to a car??

Regional Overnight Delivery (Same Day delivery can be referenced as an optional service, similar to the delivery times that we want to list on the back.

Custom Shipping Solutions

Your Brand Here (clients can order branded envelopes with their own logo and name)

What package graphics design styles do you like?

Overnite Express (Highlights their late night 9 pm pickup drop boxes, which attracted recipients to call and setup an account)
FedEx (Clean and Simple)
UPS (I like their co-branded envelope You can view a 90 second video clip here:

What colors do you want to see in your package graphics design?

Yellow, black and white. You can consider shades of black (i.e. gray) if appropriate

What colors do you NOT want to see in your package graphics design?

Any other color that yellow, black and white

What adjectives should best describe your package graphics design?

Overnight Delivery

What content must be included in the package graphics design?

Our new Deliver-It logo must be prominent on the package. See attached logos, including 3 background color variations.
Space for the placement of a label. It can go over wording, but should be designated so our sorting system has a consistent line of sight reading for the barcode and or passive RFID (radio frequency Identification) card.
Recyclable or Green Envelope

Do you have additional info or links you'd like to share?

We do want our packaging to stand out and be different. While we like a clean look, an alternative to explore is to perhaps show a fun theme of sorts. Not sure how creative you can get with just yellow and black (and white).

As an idea, it might be interesting if the appearance of a wax seal was seen at the fold of the envelope when sealed. Just an idea. Not sure if it would work or look too juvenile.

Brief updates

We would also like to include a QR code on the envelope that goes to our website,, with a reference that individuals can go there to set up their own account and start saving today. We may also want to explore an AR code, assuming it would be effective.

As a fun creative idea, it might be interesting to see an iteration that looked like an oversized standard #10 size envelope, flap and all, that gave the impression someone got a big letter, or won the Sweepstakes. This may not work, but just a thought.

Earlier I mentioned the orientation of the envelope had to be portrait vs. landscape. After further consideration, either option works. If it is landscape, the shipper will slide the contents of the envelope via the side vs. the top.

Explore what is best, as we do not want to limit anyones creativity.

The emphasis should be on our "Flat Rate up to 5 lbs." message. Look at the Overnite Express envelope I uploaded previously and see how that envelope emphasizes their 9PM drop off as their product differentiator.

Also, the focus of this envelope should be as an Overnight delivery vs. a Same Day Delivery. While the Same Day service should be mentioned on the back as a service option, the main users of this envelope will be those sending "Overnight" packages. As such, it should say "Deliver-It Overnight" or Deliver-It, Express Overnite". Something along those lines.

As a consideration, I would like to see someone show a clean front side like the FedEx Envelope, that primarily just shows our logo, the word Overnight, and our Flat Rate up to 5 lbs. Offering. The back can contain more info.

We also need our phone number and website on the front and back.

Updating the deadline one more day to fine tune the ideas.

We've narrowed it down to wanting to go with an all Black envelope. We want to see both designs as portrait and landscape. Must have the logo with the white arrow in the "D". Must have the words "Express Overnight" prominently displayed on the front. Also must have "Flat Rate up to 5lbs" on the front. In addition we would like a QR code somewhere on the front. The balance of the front needs to be clean...all other texts and label area to be on the back side.
