Do you have a title for this newsletter?

Why New Years Resolutions Often Dont TAKE and how to make sure your 2011 resolutions do!

What information MUST be included?

IDEAS OF THINGS TO COVER IN THE ARTICLE
(writers you dont have to cover it all just providing some samples so you know what I had in mind for the types of things that would be appropriate for this type of an article).

*Every year in January, many people reflect on how their lives could be better if theyd make a change. Many take the step of a resolution which areoften abandoned by mid-February. If you really want to change heres advice that will help.

*Do you know why you made the resolution? What are you hoping will be better once you make that change happen? Have an honest conversation with yourself and be realistic about what the change will do for your life. If you need to rethink the resolution thats fine. Theres nothing magical about January 1 theres always time to change.

*Once youre really doubly 100% positive you want to make the change then you have to figure out how youre going to make the change. What are you willing to do differently that youve never done before? (if you always do what youve always done, youll always get what you always got so you got to do something different!)

*Make sure you make a commitment to your resolution every day and perhaps even multiple times every day! You cant let whats most important to you get lost in the chaos of your routine. If you want to change, youve got to want it every day and be willing to tolerate the discomfort involved.

*Set a realistic plan for getting there, including
*How do you plan to motivate yourself?
*Where are you going to get the help you need from others?
*How are you going to handle setbacks and obstacles?

Biggest mistakes people make:
Wanting to do too much too fast and then giving up
Too much or too little flexibility in the plan
Not doing enough to fan the fire so the desire burns out
Belittling small steps toward the goal and berating themselves harshly for small missteps Be kind to yourself while still holding yourself accountable
Blaming failure on anyone or anything. Own the goal! If its to be, its up to me!
Being unrealistic about what youll get when you get the goal getting down to a svelt 125 does not mean Prince Charming is going to be knocking on your door!

What character, tenor or spirit do you want to convey?

This is a "how to" article ... please offer solid advice, clear direction, practical examples, and clear "how to's" for what to do to make sure the readers understand how to make their resolutions stick this year.

What is your required length in words or pages for this newsletter?

400-700 flexible -- can go over or under by some.
