Business Info

What does your company do?

A UK (London) based technology company (the location doesn't matter). This essentially a small holding company that invests in startup ideas and develops new ideas. It is funded through IT Enterprise Professional Services, but this will hopefully be a medium term function.

Do you require that a .COM or other URL be available for the new name?

A .com is not an absolute requirement but would be beneficial (and ideally I don't want the .co.uk to overlap with a .com). A .co.uk domain is required

Target Audience

What is your industry?

Describe your customers

The majority of customers will be people I meet face to face, promoting my businesses, and trying to develop ideas / relationships. These could be people at trade shows, investors, enterprise customers, or simply technical people. This company would then be the registered owner of subsidiary companies, web companies, etc.

What 3 things do you want your company name to communicate to your customers?

Maturity, trust, and forward thinking. I will get a logo designed so a good acronym may be beneficial for the logo design, e.g. AT&T is a good acronym for a logo (this isn't essential).

List the names of your top three competitors

The company is probably going to be involved in Enterprise IT services, more likely on the Infrastructure side, as well as web companies. Therefore any technology company or startup could be a competitor.

Style and Concept

What character, tenor, or spirit do you wish to convey?

Professionalism, although somewhat relaxed. I'd like the name to be as timeless as possible because I don't want to change it again! Ideally the name must convey the message that this is an Information Technology company but be broad enough that doesn't tie it to one specific thing. It must be easy to say and be memorable, for example I recently met a company and their name had seven characters - unfortunately it was so bizarre I couldn't remember.

Are there any words or phrases you especially like or hate?

Generally anything childish or silly is bad and it should be noted that this isn't a consumer targeted business. Company names ending with Solutions, Services, Ventures, etc, etc, can be suggested but should flow well with the preceding word(s).

Do you have other info you want to share?

- The business name MUST be available to be registered in the UK by Companies House. On http://wck2.companieshouse.gov.uk search 'Company Name' and make sure there isn't a duplicate, or something very similar. For example if there is COMPANY ABC LIMITED on Companies House and you call it COMPANY ABC SERVICES this will be rejected.
- Ideally the company name should be short (so the email address doesn't take ages to type) but if you think you've got a good name (that's long) please propose it
