Certara (divisions are Tripos and Pharsight)
What do you do?
we are a software company that provides programs that help scientists who are engaged in drug discovery and development make sense of their data, predict potential effects of drugs in their pipelines, and make decisions as to what to make and test next for best possible results. We support "translational" approaches to science, meaning helping our clients mine intelligence from the massive amounts of data they have.
Do you require that a .COM or other URL be available for the new name?
not required but preferred
What is your industry?
Global B2B Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies engaged in drug discovery and development
Describe your audience
Targeted audience is primarily at PhD scientific researchers (predominately male) that are highly numerate, educated people who hold advanced degrees in sciences, mathmatics or statistics. Kind of nerdy. Earnest, believe they are doing work that is good for humanity, think they are making the world better. Less playful, very precise and literal - they do have a sense of humor but respond best to more literal approaches. Honest.
Areas of responsibility include Computer-Aided Drug Design Scientists responsible for drug safety; Safety Toxicologist supporting Drug Discovery projects; Discovery Informatics Group responsible for delivering predictive models to discovery scientists; Drug Re-Purposing Group.
What 3 things do you want your product name to communicate to your audience?
Using this product, you can identify potential safety risks much earlier in the discovery and development process.
You can focus chemistry efforts can be focused on the areas with the best chance of success in pre-clinical and clinical safety.
Biological/Safety evaluation can be focused on the areas of greatest risk.
You can identify new therapeutic application for a failed development candidate and rescue lost investment.
List the names of your top three competitor products
Bioprint, AurPASS (Aureus Prediction of Activity Spectra of Substances)
What character, tenor or spirit do you wish to convey?
scientific, valid, reliable, conservative, intelligent, reputable, serious
Are there any words or phrases you like or hate?
Must be easily pronounced by non-English speakers, including Asians.
Must not trigger a negative impression when translated to other languages (particular Asian and Western European).
Must not appear frivolous.
Do you want to include additional info?
this product predicts off-target pharmacology (i.e. unintended side effects) of drug candidates from their 2D chemical structure and consists of 3-pronged approached (think connections, links, not stair steps). We've considered names like LINKS, BioLINKS, or ChemoLINKS but all are too generic. I believe if we try to find a descriptive name, while preferred by my internal audience, we will have a hard time finding something that isn't too bland and can be truly descriptive.
