What does your company do?
Our mission is to reinvent workplace mentoring.
Almost all highly accomplished people point to advice and mentorship they received along the way as key contributors to their success. Unfortunately, most of us have a hard time finding the right advisors, let alone making the most of our relationships with them. We tend to rely on friends, family and colleagues; while these folks clearly have our best interests at heart, they might not have the specific expertise we require at any given point in our careers.
We help the worlds most progressive organizations empower their top performers by matching them with the right mentors and providing tools to optimize these relationships. Based on our members specific objectives, we carefully select a good match from our hand-screened network of world-class mentors. We then provide both protg and mentor with the support they need to get the most out of their six month partnership.
Do you require that a .COM or other URL be available for the new name?
Yes. We will require a .com URL for the new name. Please do not submit any names that do not have a .com URL available.
We will also need to secure trademark rights on the name so please ensure that the name doesn't sound very similar to other companies that are in our space.
What is your industry?
Describe your customers
We work with leading companies from small startups (we have customers with less than 10 employees) to some of the largest companies in the world (Fortune-ranked public companies). Typically we sell to progressive managers that recognize the value that mentorship can provide their top performers.
We also work with human capital / human resources experts who want to provide this service across their organizations as a part of their learning and development program.
What 3 things do you want your company name to communicate to your customers?
We would like English words or English-pronounceable words (can be invented) that reflect:
1. Our mission / value proposition - providing the right objective advice to top performers at the right time in their careers
2. Gravitas / sophistication - we want our name to ensure corporate customers that we're a serious organization and not a flighty internet startup
3. Innovation - we are looking to apply some very new concepts to this old challenge; our name should reflect this positioning.
List the names of your top three competitors
There are some software players that we're competing with, including: Triple Creek and Chronus. We also compete with other organizations such as Gotta Mentor and Management Mentors.
There are a few companies in our space that we don't directly compete with, e.g., Career Core, EmployInsight, SuccessFactors.
Style and Concept
What character, tenor, or spirit do you wish to convey?
As mentioned earlier, we'd like the name to speak to the innovation, sophistication and gravitas that we're bringing to the career development space. We also want the name to immediately suggest what we do (if
possible). Please note: we do NOT want the word "mentor" or any derivation of that word in our name.
Are there any words or phrases you especially like or hate?
We do NOT want the word "mentor" or any derivation of mentor in the name. In fact, we'd like to avoid a name that's too closely tied to the notion of one-to-one mentoring as we offer the ability for folks to benefit from the wisdom of others in models other than mentoring. The key focus area is on professional development by learning from others.
We don't want anything that's too literal - for example "High Achievers" wouldn't work for us.
We also do not want any Latin words unless they are very closely related to what we're doing.
Some words that convey the right meaning include: Knowledge, Guidance, Counsel, Judgment, Intelligence, Wisdom, Achievement, Success, Inspiration, Objective, Fair, Impartial, Relevant, Timely, Considered. Again, we don't want anything that's too literal but are open to derivations of these words or their synonyms.
A few names that have tested well but are not right for us (for various reasons) include:
We're including these here so you can get a sense of the types of names that might work for us. Hopefully this will fuel the creative process!
