LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
We are a mobile app development company and we are just about to launch a new "iPhone APP BUILDER product".
This new service will allow "anyone" to go to our website, register for a free account and then build a customized iPhone App using our App Builder wizard, no technical knowledge is required from the user. When the person is happy with their new creation they can pay a small fee and then submit it to the Apple App Store.
Important: The service will initially allow users to build iPhone apps but soon will also support Android, iPad, Nokia - etc..... So you will be able to build apps for multiple platforms, the name of our product cannot specifically relate to "iPhone" apps.
HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
We need to come up with a catchy name for our new App Builder Product, the name should be easy to remember and spell.
At this stage I am not sure if we would like to use a name with "App" in it, example: "Fusion Apps" or if we would like to keep the name totally abstract.
OUR COMPETITORS - Please note we do NOT like any of the below names. These names are too generic and we are looking to achieve something different - see examples for guidance.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our audience for this product is small to medium sized businesses, private individuals / website owners.
Anyone we wants to get a mobile app without the expense.
"Mobile Apps, for the rest of us..."
The service could be used by Artists / bands, restaurants, events, churches, athletes, small companies, pulling in blog information, its has a wide audience but the audience.
We want to communicate the nature of the product to the target market in it being, easy, quick and painless to create mobile apps.
WE LIKE THESE EXAMPLES:
In the past I have liked the naming that 37signals have used for their products, their two main product names are: BaseCamp & Camp Fire.
BaseCamp (project management system) instead of calling it something like project management pro, they called to BaseCamp it symbolize that it is your BASE, your centre for doing everything, a place that you operate out of.... your base camp. - Great name
CampFire - (group chat system) rather than calling it something like "Collaborator" they called it Camp Fire, as it is a chat system, camp fire symbolizes people "sitting around a camp fire" having a group chat.... very cool name.
These are examples of cool names, that are semi abstract but still have a profound connection with the products purpose.
This is something like we would like to achieve in naming our product.
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE THIS IN OUR PIECE:
A cool, semi abstract name that somehow relates to the products purpose, see the examples above.
