iBE - Integrated Business Environment Inc.
What do you do?
www.iBE-erp.com - building a next generation collaborative, intuitive and elegant looking "enterprise application" or "enterprise resource planning" system. Our customers are small and medium-sized businesses (of 10-500 employees) interesting in a cloud-based tool for managing their accounts, people, projects, billing, suppliers, customers, inventory etc.
We are looking for companies that have "outgrown" Quickbooks or Peachtree as an accounting package and want an integrated business environment. Our competitors are NetSuite, WorkDay, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Infor, Success Factors, Zoho, ZenDesk, SAP (BusinessByDesign) and Oracle (JDE)
Do you have a desired website screen size?
Application UI we are considering now is targeted laptop/PC (e.g. 1024x768) with reduced-feature version to run on tablets.
How many pages (maximum of 5) do you need designed?
This is not a web-site but a cloud-based business application. We only require input on the graphic interface design - colors, style, theme, skin. Just one page is requested
What is your industry?
ERP or enterprise resource planning software, business applications, business automation, business software
Describe the target audience for your website design
Small and medium sized businesses with 10-500 employees in US, Europe, India, China, Russia and globally. Professionals across a range of age/gender/location/education boundaries but more focused on "white collar" or supervisor/manager level business folks. Not a technical or IT audience...our users will be managers, buyers, warehouse supervisors, production controllers, sales people, call center agents, accountants etc.
What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your website design
1. This is a really well designed product (looks great, but is not too distracting because users will have our application open on their desktop for 4 hrs at a time)
2. I want to use this product (it does not look scary or complicated - without belittling the user's intelligence)
3. I can use this product (everything has a clear purpose and fit together as a whole very well)
How is your company different from your competitors?
1. Elegant and intuitive user interface :-) (extends to easy mobile access)
2. Easy to implement, deploy, use and support (e.g. cloud-based, not on-premise, open pricing model)
3. Tailored for each company's unique industry-sector and regional requirements (not a 'one size fits all' business software package)
Style and Concept
What website design styles do you like?
We are more focused on applications vs. web-sites as a comparison though we accept some more interactive web-sites are application. Likes:
1. Mint (personal finance software)
2. Netdesk (support and helpdesk software)
3. Success Factors (HR talent mgt. software)
4. Producteev or RapidTask (task mgt. software)
5. Salesforce (CRM software)
6. WorkDay (HR software)
What colors do you want to see in your website design?
This is the main point of this project - as we already have a layout we are comfortable with. We want creatives to focus on the colors/tones/contrast etc. and only make changes to the layout if you feel there are other alternatives that we should consider...
Our logos are attached (another CrowdSpring project) and we ideally want our application style to go with the logo. Also our external web-site www.ibe-erp.com (which is not part of this brief) gives an idea of a color theme we like
Without restricting the creativity and variety of inputs we like different shades of green or orange. Submissions based on a green theme will be given initial preference, recognizing that there are many shades of green to choose from!
Because the user is likely to interact with our software as part of their day-to-day job the color/theme challenge is to have as much as the screen in white as possible, while still looking elegant and not boring
What colors do you NOT want to see in your website design?
Blue is a very common color especially for business application software, used by several of our competitors. For this reason we want to try to avoid it if possible, at least not for the main theme.
Other colors we feel are better for consumer applications and not for business applications -> purple, bright red, brown. Also while some web-sites very effectively use white text on large black contrasting areas like banners - we do not feel this works for a business application which can be open on someone's desktop for 4 hrs at a time.
What adjectives should best describe your website design?
1. Clear and purposeful
What content must be included in the website design?
This project is seeking input on colors, styling and themes, not on content. We have provided a number of screen images to show the layout of our application, plus one photoshop file for creatives to work from (if desired) in developing their submissions. Working from this photoshop file should save creatives time in copying the content but using our file as a basis is purely optional.
So to be clear we are NOT looking for creatives to generate content and layout or to spend alot of time redesigning the form and function of our application. Suggestions and ideas for changes to layout are welcomed but the winning entry will be selected on the basis of style - coloring and theme.
Do you have additional requirements or links you want to share?
We are not so interested in new layout designs though suggestions on layout are welcomed. What we are looking for is a set of colors and styles to turn our existing layout into an elegant, professional and purposeful application user interface. We are very happy to receive several different variations of color themes and will give comments back on all serious submissions, but at this time there is a preference for green or orange highlights in keeping with our logo and current thinking. But we are always open to new inputs...
