What do you do?
We build tablet-based electronic solutions for manufacturing facilities and equipment. In this case we're enabling CNC machines to send emails and text messages to the manufacturing team.
Our tool is comprised of a hardware device and an app. Through the app the user decides what component of the machine to monitor and when a message (and of what type) should be sent. We've structured the app to lead the user through creating 'machine monitoring events'. The graphics should aid the simplicity.
To give you an idea of the tool the app is part of: (http://cncmachinemonitoring.com/product-...) and (http://cncmachinemonitoring.com/machine-...).
What is your industry?
What 3 things do you want to communicate to your audience through your app?
- Simple, easy-to-use (core functionality should be immediately apparent)
- High tech
Style and Details
How many app screens do you need designed?
What we want is the app theme. This theme I think can be captured and presented in one screen, perhaps two. Please see the attached theme pdf for the main screen to design around.
Do your app designs need to be a particular size?
This will be an Android app intended to run on a 7" tablet. Preferred ratio is 16:10. Of course, please scale big so the programmers can scale down as needed. (I think Google recommends 4x actual size.)
What mobile app styles do you like?
-"Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car)" I like the floating widget style
-"AutoCAD 360" Menu+workspace interaction is nice here
-"Chess.com" Easy to navigate the various menus without losing where you're at, easy to grab main screen again.
What colors do you want to see in your mobile app design?
Bold, rich colors.
What colors do you NOT want to see in your mobile app design?
What adjectives should best describe your app design?
Do you have additional info or links you'd like to share?
To understand the app screen and element interactions, see the attached wireframe.
I had a particular graphics style in mind when I made the wireframe. You could develop that style creatively or suggest other appealing and intuitive styles.
