Mobidia makes sotware for mobile phones and mobile phone networks. We are launching our first consumer application for Android phones to help people understand how they are consuming mobile data on their phone.

Describe the target audience for your icon design

We are targeting Android smartphone users with this application. They tend to be younger and tech savy (guessing 25-35yro the sweet spot).

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through your icon design?

We need our icon to be descriptive and compelling so we can rise above the 10s of thousands of other applications. Ideally the icon would convery 1)The app allows you to monitor your data (internet) usage 2) the app can help save you money by helping you understand how you are consuming data (for US subscribers, this is very helpful when roaming) 3) the app will allow you to set up alerts and notifications to avoid overage charges

How many different icons do you need designed?

1 single Icon design that will be used as the main application launcher. It will need to scale up and down to fit 4 sizes as described below.

Do you have specific size requirements for the icons?

3 sizes for on phone use: 72x72, 48x48, and 36x36. But the icon will need to scale up to 512x512 for use in the Android Marketplace (which is often viewed on PCs)

Fluorescents. Like to avoide silhouette-type designs with only 1 or 2 colors.
