Business Info

Business Name

Smart Dolphins IT Solutions

What do you do?

We help other companies with their computer networks. More specifically, we are a Managed Service Provider (MSP). An MSP is a company that goes beyond just being a reactive source of computer support. We lead, manage and support IT infrastructure for companies that rely heavily on their computers. We charge a fixed monthly fee for a consistent and reliable result. Our customers have exceptionally great IT experiences and their businesses are more profitable because of our approach.

Target Audience

What is your industry?

Software and InfoTech

Describe your audience

Business decision maker: owner, General Manager, CFO, etc of medium-sized small businesses (generally 15-50 computers). We typically target companies that rely heavily on their IT like professional (i.e. accountants and lawyers), engineering companies, hi tech companies. This audience is typically very busy/overworked, insecure about their IT knowledge and difficult to get their attention.

What 3 things would you like to communicate to your audience through these materials?

We have a unique perspective and approach to IT support
We offer a predictable result for a predictable fee
We take care of IT so they can focus on what they do best

How do you intend to use these marketing materials (print, web, etc.)

This a flyer, post card or letter that will be a part of a direct mail campaign. It should be something that I can mail relatively inexpensively and should be attention-getting (lumpy mail). The flyer, post card or letter will accompany a small branded gift that will hopefully be of some value to the recipient so that they keep it and remember us. All items will be sent in an envelope. I have one idea for the gift ("Pitchfix" - see materials), but I am open to other ideas - cost for gift should be less than $10 per unit. I'd like the gift to be an analogy or metaphor to our approach, service and message. For example, in the past, I have sent a toothbrush with a post card that encouraged the recipient to "brush" their network (again, see materials for this example in full).

Style and Details

What do you need done?

This piece should be a flyer, post card or letter that will accompany a gift (see above). It should be attention-grabbing, fun, informative/valuable. Typically our target market thinks they are "fine", even though they are suffering from relatively weak IT support. We want them to know that there is a better way. This piece should peak that interest and get them to phone or email me/us to explore this further. Secondarily, the piece should warm up future contact from us (i.e. we will follow up this mailer with a phone call introduction (cold calls/telemarketing)- so hopefully this will leave a good first impression and warm up the introductory call) and get them to take action (call or email).

I'd prefer to position the copy so that it related to the target audience, opposed to blabbing on about how great Smart Dolphins is. It should make them go, "I never thought of it that way before" - reframe them.

What content must be included?

Our logo. An image or two that captures or relates to the message, perhaps?
Our tagline is "Technology with Porpoise" - I have this in graphic format or it can be recreated using "AnimeAce" font which I have included.
I'm open to ideas.
I think I'd prefer to simply include one of my business cards within each mailer, but I'm open to having our/my contact information on the flyer, post card or letter.

What character, tenor or spirit do you want to convey?

Our brand is intended to be approachable, safe, fun and professional. IT can be intimidating and it is very intimate. Our brand is very personal (not highly corporate). You can review our website to get a feel: smartdolphins.com. The copy can be a little jarring or bold.

What is your required length in words or pages for these marketing materials?

Obviously needs to fit on one page. Too wordy and people won't read it. I'm open to ideas.

Do you want to include additional info?

This is my first time trying CrowdSpring so I hope I've been informative without being too wordy. I've intentionally tried to keep this relatively open and free to creative ideas.

I have included a number of files that might be helpful:
1. Toothbrush is my DIY direct mailer that I sent out in the past. This went out with a small, Dolphin shaped tooth brush. (not particularly valuable so maybe not the best example of what I'm hoping for).
2. PitchFix is the small, branded gift that I'm thinking I would include with this mailer. I'm not stuck on this idea, however.
3. Two logo files: one with just our "Dolphin" and one with text.
4. Technology with Porpoise graphic
5. AnimeAce Font
