LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT US:
WorkNation is a social networking site that aims to unite people from all walks of life around work-related issues and more. WorkNation believes that each of us regardless of status, profession or experience (with a few exceptions) share the commonality of "work", and in turn share the burdens, stresses, joys and disappointments that result from being a member of the workforce.
WorkNation further holds the general view that, while work is a necessary and valuable part of life, we have perhaps taken this to an extreme with many of us being all too familiar with what it means to be chained to a treadmill from which there is no escape -- and, instead of enjoying life in the present (because no one knows what tomorrow will bring), we instead cling to past memories of alleged happiness or dream of the illusive day we can retire, which for many of us may never be realized.
If this describes your present situation - Welcome to the Worknation! If youve just been summarily laid off after years of tireless dedication due to the current economy, Welcome to the WorkNation! WorkNation is about bringing people like you together one of its lofty ambitions is to impress upon it members that you will spend most of your life in the WorkNation (so you need to enjoy life now, not 20 or 30 years from now) and thus present you with the opportunity to network with similarly situated individuals and take back your life and, possibly, reinvent yourself.

HERE IS WHAT WE NEED:
Were looking for an eye-catching logo to lend some personality to our identiy. This logo will be used primarily for our web site, but we foresee future ports on mobile devices (such as iPhone - think iconifiable), however it will also likely be used to brand stationery, clothing, cups, etc.
OUR TARGET AUDIENCE IS:
Our target audience cuts across all demographics, however it is primarily geared towards people who have done some time in the WorkNation, so were mostly looking at a 25+ crowd.
WE LIKE THESE DESIGNS:
We don't want to hamper your creativity by holding up a standard, but we generally tend to like simple, elegant designs that lend personality and attitude while giving some sense of what the company is about. We prefer modern typefaces (i.e.sans-serif) with clean lines. That being said, we're quite open-minded and if you have a vision for something different than what this description might suggest, then by all means, go for it!
WE ABSOLUTELY MUST HAVE (or we don't want to see) THIS IN OUR DESIGN:
WorkNation must appear as one word, (though caps arent necessarily required). Ideally, the logo would convey the sense of a community or work (or both) without necessarily giving prevalence to any one profession over another (a wrench, for example, is not good in that it is too specific; a bee, however, would work nicely since it alludes to work in general).
Our site will support customized themes or skins, so ideally you would provide a version to go over a light background and one that is suitable for a dark background. As far as colors go what colors and images does the concept of work conjure up for you? Explore the possibilities - above all, have fun, go crazy!
We dont like overly busy or baroque designs or ones whose meaning is not immediately grasped at first glance.
