Creative Brief

Who are you?

"What people should know about me?" Vanessa Kafka, Boston-located singer-songwriter, thinks aloud before blurting out the first thing that comes to mind. I'm a nerd. And a creative person. So, I'm a creative nerd. Basically." She starts to laugh. "I guess I should say something clever, right? Ugh, this is hard!"

With this, Kafka (26), proves she's not another melancholy musician. A fan once said of her music, "If my soul could sing, this is exactly what it would say". Revealing lyrics about broken love, being reckless, and new beginnings instantly grab your attention. Her dynamic yet soothing sweet voice combined with her unique guitar tunings create a sound that brings back memories. Kafka writes songs that are bold and fearless in exposing her emotions.

What do you need?

Vanessa needs a logo! We've got a show coming up in the next few weeks in NYC and we want to get a logo finalized for use in that marketing campaign. From there, the logo will appear on the website, t-shirts and all future Vanessa Kafka marketing materials.

We're looking for something warm, sunny-feeling, without being cheesy. It has to be scalable since it'll be used in multiple formats/sizes.

Who Is Your Audience?

Target audience is college students and older. Music lovers. The music sounds like Norah Jones meets Shawn Colvin meets Coldplay...think that fan-base.

Requirements

We Like These Examples

Norah Jones:

I like the way they took her initials and made it into something funky. Simply, but effective.

Missy Higgins

The text style gets used consistently on some of her marketing materials.

Matt Wertz
Funky! I love the curliness of this logo. http://www.thedroponline.com/wp-content/...

Ingrid Michaelson

This is also simple, but fun.

We Absolutely Must Have

The name "Vanessa Kafka" or the initials ("VK") should be in there. Otherwise, you're free to play with spacing, images in conjunction with the text, etc.
